Memphis area's high school girls soccer top players as postseason nears

With the 2023 Tennessee high school girls soccer season reaching the midway point, several players have stood out in the Memphis area.

Here's a list of some of the top names through the first half who could be player of the year candidates when the season comes to a close.

Note: Statistics provided by coaches.

Julia Wagner, Arlington: Wagner, a junior, has eight goals and five assists for the Tigers.

Madison Klein, Bartlett: Klein, a senior goalkeeper, has 67 saves for the Panthers, including eight against perennial power Collierville on Sept. 11.

Rylee Ringold, Bartlett: Ringold, a sophomore, leads the Panthers with 10 goals and has three assists.

Ali Howard, Briarcrest: Howard, a junior striker, leads the Saints with 12 goals, and has four assists.

Abby Lankford, Briarcrest: Lankford, a senior goalkeeper, has posted six shutouts, including a 2-0 victory over ECS on Aug. 22.

Maddie Carter, Briarcrest: Carter, a senior, has scored eight goals for the nine-win Saints.

Carson Wells, Briarcrest: Wells, a junior center back, has five goals, two assists, and anchors a Saints’ defense that’s recorded six shutouts.

Cassidy Jones, Brighton: After leading the Cardinals in scoring a season ago, Jones, a senior forward, has 10 goals in 2023.

Kaitlyn Lewis, Collierville: Lewis, a sophomore forward, has five goals and a team-best six assists.

Hilary Shikuku, Collierville: Shikuku, a junior forward, leads the Dragons with 13 goals.

Allie Broadway, ECS: Broadway, a sophomore center midfielder, has 13 goals and 11 assists in 10 matches.

Anna Laura Howard, ECS: Through 10 matches, Howard, a senior forward, has nine goals and four assists for the Eagles.

Abby Tucker, Fayette Academy: Tucker, a sophomore goalkeeper, has made more than 50 saves for the Vikings.

Alexa Franklin, Germantown: Franklin, a senior, has scored 14 goals from her striker position.

Sheccid Melesio, Germantown: Melesio, a sophomore goalkeeper, has made 47 saves for the Red Devils.

Scarlett Cowles, Houston: Cowles, a freshman, has seven goals and five assists.

McKlain Jones, Houston: Jones, a junior, has scored 11 goals for the 10-win Mustangs.

Ellett Smith, Houston: Smith, a junior, has tallied 11 goals and 15 assists for the Mustangs.

Lucy Smith, Houston: Smith, a senior, has seven goals and 12 assists.

Paige Corzine, Hutchison: Corzine, a senior center midfielder, leads the Sting in tackles and ball recovered.

Caroline Gibert, Hutchison: Gibert, a senior center back, is tops her club in minutes played.

Haney Harris, Hutchison: Harris, a sophomore, has a team-high seven assists.

Kate Anderson, Hutchison: Anderson, a senior, has scored six goals for the Sting.

Stormi Boles, Lakeland Prep: Boles, a freshman striker, has 16 goals, including a Sept. 8 hat trick against Chester County, and nine assists.

Ava Brennan, Lakeland Prep: Brennan, a sophomore wing, has seven goals and a team-leading 13 assists for the Lions.

Layla Olson, Munford: Olson, a senior goalkeeper, has a 1.72 GAA, four shutouts and averages 9.8 saves a match for the Cougars.

Ella Rump, St. Agnes: Rump, a senior, has nine goals and an assist for the Stars.

Maria Bair, St. Benedict: Bair, a senior captain, had a hat trick in the Eagles’ recent 4-1 victory over Lakeland Prep.

Emmy Brenner, St. Benedict: Brenner, a senior midfielder, is committed to the University of Evansville.

Ansley Harman, St. Benedict: Harman, a freshman midfielder, brings the Eagles plenty of experience from her club-ball participation with E64 Lobos Rush.

Batie Casey, St. George’s: Casey, a senior midfielder, has five goals and a team-high 11 assists.

Mary Clark Consolo, St. George’s: Consolo, a sophomore forward, has tallied nine goals and two assists.

Julia Giolo, St. George’s: Giolo, a senior midfielder, has 10 goals and three assists for the Gryphons.

Riley Stooksbury, St. George’s: Stooksbury, a sophomore goalkeeper, has averaged eight saves a match.

Payton Biggs, Tipton-Rosemark Academy: Biggs, a freshman midfielder, has registered 30 goals and 20 assists for the nine-win Rebels.

Tori Davidson, TRA: Davidson, a sophomore, has 17 goals, including five game-winners, and 20 assists.

Zadie Reburn, TRA: Reburn, a freshman goalkeeper, has a 9-1 record, with a 1.40 GAA and five shutouts.

Madisyn Willingham, Whitehaven: Willingham, a senior center midfielder, has four goals and two assists for the Tigers.
