Melbourne Beach Orioles win third consecutive Brevard Super Senior Softball League title

The Melbourne Beach Orioles won their third consecutive Brevard Super Senior Softball League championship on April 29 at at Liberty Park in Palm Bay.

They finished the season with a 16-8 record, tying with The Real Estate Firm. However, the Orioles held the tiebreaker.

The Orioles were led by Robert Leger, who's 40-plus extra base hits and .767 average led the team. Other notable leaders were Ediie Gonzales (.738), Victor Cordero (.731), Scott Schoenly (.723) and Pat Trevelino (.667).

The team's defensive play what helped it win the title. The Orioles gave up 50 fewer runs than the next closest team.

The Brevard Super Senior Softball League is a 55+ Monday night league in Brevard County. Those interested in participating in the next season should contact the league at Superseniorsoftball.com and complete an application.
