Meet Greater Fall River's High School Swimming & Diving All-Scholastic Team

FALL RIVER — The Herald News kicks off Winter All-Scholastics with co-ed swim and dive all-stars.

These athletes had what it took to compete each day in the pool whether it was long distance race or perfecting the dive. Somerset Berkley's Nicholas Cavic and Durfee diver Rachael Silva shattered records this winter for their respective teams, which was why they were named Herald News Swim/Dive Co-Swimmers of the Year.

The Herald News is pleased to announce the 2023-24 Winter All-Scholastics co-ed swimming all-stars from Greater Fall River:

Swimmers of the Year

Nicholas Cavic, Somerset Berkley

No matter what race Cavic participated in, you can always count on a first-place finish for the Raider swimmer this past winter. The junior athlete set six different program records for the Seekonk co-op team, including two of them twice. Cavic was also strong in the Division 2 Sectional and State Championships — 100, 200 and 500 events.

In the 100 freestyle, Cavic beat a 33-year old program record (47.55) by 0.71 seconds. He also set another program record in the 200 freestyle (1:44.04), beating a 43-year mark. In two weeks, Cavic set three new school records for the 200, 200 IM and 500. He is one of six swimmers from Somerset Berkley in the co-op program with Seekonk

Rachael Silva, Durfee

The Hilltopper junior had another all-star season this past winter. She was named a Southeast Conference dive champion and league all-star. Silva, who was named team Most Valuable Player, placed first in every dual meet event she participated in this season.
