Meet the 2023-24 Volusia-Flagler All-Area high school boys soccer team
The end of the 2023-24 high school soccer season brought a close to a memorable, unprecedented four-year run in New Smyrna Beach.
The Barracudas recorded 25 wins, a third consecutive Five Star Conference championship, a district title and second straight appearance in the Class 6A Elite Eight during the winter. The impending graduating class will exit with an overall record of 68-13-9.
New Smyrna Beach was one of two Volusia-Flagler teams to crack the Florida High School Athletic Association's regional playoffs, joined by District 5-5A champion Matanzas. The Pirates produced an 11-5-2 record with an impressive +41 goal differential.

A handful of teams that missed the playoffs still put together impressive campaigns. Flagler Palm Coast had its first winning season since 2016, Spruce Creek rebounded after a rebuilding year to notch 13 wins and reach the Five Star final, and Atlantic surpassed the .500 mark for the first time in more than 15 years.
The time has come to salute the best in local soccer with the Volusia-Flagler All-Area teams, comprised of one goalkeeper, three defenders, four midfielders, three forwards and one multi-positional (flex) player.
The Volusia-Flagler High School Sports Awards is proud to announce the athlete of the year nominees for boys soccer. The winners will be announced during the live show on Monday, June 3, at the Ocean Center.
The show is presented with the support of Halifax Health.
During the live show, athletes of the year in 30 state-sanctioned sports will be honored. In addition, top teams, coaches and overall athletes will be honored as will a Courage Award winner. Nominated athletes who RSVP will receive a complimentary ticket to the event thanks to sponsors. Details on how additional tickets can be obtained will be available soon.

The Volusia-Flagler High School Sports Awards show is part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country. Nominees
Dylan Dongilli, GK, New Smyrna Beach: The senior recorded 19 clean sheets this season, and finishes his four-year career with 44 total. He surpassed 90 saves and helped the Barracudas get on the attack with his distribution from the back.
Bennett Morse, D, Spruce Creek: The junior tied for the Hawks' team lead in assists (six) and was the most consistent player in a defense that conceded 30 goals in 23 matches.
Nedas Jaronis, D, Matanzas: The senior co-captained the Pirates to the District 5-5A title, a strong presence in fortifying the defense. Matanzas allowed just 19 goals across its 18 games.
Joel Smith, D, New Smyrna Beach: The senior, selected as the 2022-23 Player of the Year, commanded the box on set pieces again and shined in a back line that conceded only 11 goals all season.
Tristan Bodnar, M, Spruce Creek: Considered the Hawks' most improved and valuable player, the senior blossomed into a leader for the Hawks. Committed to USC Lancaster, Bodnar opened the season with a hat trick against Pine Ridge and never stopped scoring, finishing with 25 goals and five assists.
Isaiah Harper, M, DeLand: Despite being deployed in defensive midfield and tasked with setting the tempo, the senior led the Bulldogs with eight goals. Harper earned an invitation to the FACA All-Star Game.
Hugues Iguaran, M, New Smyrna Beach: The junior often controlled games for the 'Cudas with his ability on the ball and in the pass, breaking defensive lines and creating chances. He led the area with 18 assists, and chipped in 10 goals.
Sergio Posada, M, Matanzas: The sophomore scored a team-high 12 goals from the attacking midfield position, notching his first career hat trick in a Dec. 8 victory against First Baptist Christian.
Aron Binkley, F, Flagler Palm Coast: The junior traded ends of the pitch, moving from central defense to forward and delivered 19 goals and 11 assists. Binkley had hat tricks against Mainland and University and was named Player of the Game for FPC on four occasions.
Weston Desoto, F, New Smyrna Beach: The senior returned from an ankle fracture and finished the year as the area's top scorer with 29 goals and 10 assists. Desoto tallied game-winners in the Five Star final, the District 5-6A championship and the Region 2-6A quarterfinal.
Bo Radziul, F, Spruce Creek: Named to the all-tournament team at the Mike Stone Invitational, the junior suited up for all 23 games and had 11 goals with six assists. He recorded multi-goal outings in January victories over Bishop Kenny and Taylor.
Brooks Beeman, M/F, New Smyrna Beach: The senior moved all around the field, most commonly on the wing or in midfield, and produced no matter where he lined up. Beeman tormented defenders with his speed and dribbling, registering 17 goals and 14 assists.
Other Athletes of Note
Teagan Paulo, GK, Flagler Palm Coast: The sophomore logged the most minutes (1,529) on the Bulldogs squad, kept 11 clean sheets while conceding just 16 goals and made 154 saves, none bigger than a game-ending penalty kick in the district playoffs against DeLand.
Chase Boles, D, New Smyrna Beach: The senior transitioned into defense from midfield, spraying long passes and putting his body on the line. Boles chipped in two goals, including one against last year's Class 7A champ East Ridge.
Kai Bonner, D, Matanzas: The junior completed his third season as a starter, thriving under pressure and popping up on the scoresheet with a goal in an 8-0 win over Palatka.
Mikhail Zysek, D, Flagler Palm Coast: The junior became a linchpin for the Bulldogs at the back after switching from forward, though he also knocked in a couple of goals and tallied two assists as well.
Rami Amiri, M, Flagler Palm Coast: One of five players to appear in every game for the Bulldogs, the sophomore co-captain scored a last-minute winner against St. Joseph Academy, the most memorable of his 11 goal contributions (five goals, six assists).
Diego Bernardi, M, Matanzas: The senior began his four-year varsity career at right back but found a home further up the field, providing nine goals with two assists and tying for a team-high 37 shots.
Danny Carballo, M, Taylor: The senior, who has been a part of the Wildcats' roster since the seventh grade, dished out a team-high five assists, scored twice.
Joey Foreman, M, New Smyrna Beach: One of his team's most consistent players, the senior kept the ball moving and shielded New Smyrna's back three, collecting four goals and six assists along the way.
Emilio Garcia, F, Taylor: The junior impressed with his quickness and scored 15 times, a potential taste of what is to come for the first-year varsity Wildcat.
Landon Grover, F, Matanzas: The senior, who also earned All-Area football plaudits for placekicking, scored 11 goals and added six assists as the Pirates' central striker.
Jack Moberly, F, Flagler Palm Coast: The junior led the Bulldogs in points with 19 goals and 12 assists, surpassing his totals from the previous two seasons combined (12, eight), and had five multi-goal performances.
Matisse Ketsatha, D/M, DeLand: The senior shored up DeLand's defense when shifting from outside midfield to centerback, where he played for five of the Bulldogs' seven wins.
Top Coach
Ramtin Amiri, Flagler Palm Coast: The Bulldogs had their most successful campaign in nearly a decade with 16 wins, including a streak of 10 in a row at one point, and advanced beyond the first round in both the Five Star and District 2-7A tournaments.
