Matt Nagy expected to become Chiefs’ OC if Eric Bieniemy leaves

In what would be his second stint as the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator, Matt Nagy is expected to be next in line for Eric Bieniemy’s job if the former running back departs for a spot with the Washington Commanders, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

News broke of the potential change when it was reported that Bieniemy and the Commanders have a “mutual interest” in making him their next offensive coordinator.

Nagy has plenty of coaching experience in the NFL and was a crucial part of the team’s success in the past. He was hired as the Chicago Bears head coach in 2018 after a five-year stint in Kansas City that saw him rise from a role as the quarterback’s coach to offensive coordinator.

He was part of Andy Reid’s initial coaching staff when the two-time champion head coach was hired in Kansas City back in 2013 and was a welcome addition back to the staff this season as the team’s senior assistant and quarterbacks coach.
