March Madness account jokes about Roll Tide Willie's 'perfect' bracket with Alabama win, Auburn loss

As has been noted on several occasions, Roll Tide Willie doesn't care about nothing but the Tide.

The Alabama superfan, who has gone viral on various social media platforms, has become something of a fan favorite himself for his unabashed love for the Crimson Tide. And, considering some of the results from Friday's 2024 NCAA Tournament games, it made for a perfect opportunity for a joke.

First and foremost, 4 seed Alabama avoided becoming another SEC casualty in March Madness, downing 13 seed Charleston 109-96 in a game that was not as close as the score appeared. Prior to the Crimson Tide's game vs. the Cougars, another team from the state of Alabama — fellow 4 seed and hated rival Auburn — suffered an upset to 13 seed Yale, 78-76.

And so, the NCAA March Madness account on X (formerly Twitter), posted a joke about Roll Tide Willie's "perfect" bracket, which only needed two predictions from the first round to achieve that status — an Alabama win and an Auburn loss:

The aforementioned bracket, of course, doesn't include any of the Crimson Tide's opponents in the second round, Sweet 16, Elite Eight, Final Four or national championship: only that Alabama is going to win them all (as Willie himself almost certainly would pick).

Nate Oats' Crimson Tide was one of four teams from the state of Alabama to enter the 2024 NCAA Tournament but is the only one remaining after the first round. Aside from Auburn's upset by Yale, 13 seed Samford lost 93-89 in a controversial finish vs. 4 seed Kansas while UAB couldn't muster enough to beat San Diego State, falling 69-65.

Alabama is also one of only three remaining SEC teams still in play after the first round. The only SEC teams still alive in March Madness include 2 seed Tennessee (which beat 15 seed Saint Peter's 83-49) and 8 seed Texas A&M, which beat 9 seed Nebraska 98-83.

While a loss by the Vols certainly would have sweetened Willie's "perfect" bracket, it's still a humorous nod by the NCAA to one of Alabama's most notable superfans. The Crimson Tide will play its next game in the second round between the winner of 5 seed Saint Mary's and 12 seed Grand Canyon.
