Johnny Manziel has his sights set on playing for yet another football franchise. Speaking with The Houston Chronicle at the TriStar collectors show in Houston on Saturday, the 26-year-old said he'd be interested in playing for one of the two XFL teams in Texas, either in Houston or Dallas.

Should the 2012 Heisman winner play in Houston, he would be reunited with head coach and general manager June Jones, who coached him in the Canadian Football League with the Hamilton Tiger-cats:

“Coach Jones is a great guy,” Manziel said to Houston’s Fox26. “I enjoyed him from an offensive standpoint, from a personal standpoint. He's been there for me, especially when I was in Hamilton, getting to a new place, a different country. I enjoyed my time with him very thoroughly, and I think it would be a great opportunity.”

As for Dallas, Manziel told the Chronicle that the biggest draw for him is the fact there are two XFL teams in Texas. He added, “I'm still young and in good shape. I'm looking at all opportunities to play.”

Manziel expressed that Houston holds a special place in his heart given its close proximity to his old Texas A&M stomping grounds.

“It’s a stone's throw from College Station,” Manziel said. “A lot of Aggies drove from Houston to College Station. Houston's a great city that'll always be near and dear to me.”

The XFL is scheduled to begin in February 2020.
