Woods first competed in the Masters in 1995 as an amateur 19-year-old college freshman from Stanford University. It marked the first major championship of his career. He missed the cut a year later as an amateur once again.
In 1997, Woods turned professional and won the Masters Tournament by 12 strokes over Tom Kite for his first major championship win. At 21 years and 104 days old, he became the youngest winner in Masters history, a record that still stands.
