Manchester United player ratings vs Crystal Palace: Casemiro torn to shreds as nobody comes out of defeat well
Manchester United were given a schooling at Selhurst Park as Crystal Palace eased to a 4-0 win.
A defeat which damaged United’s hopes of qualifying for Europe began when Michael Olise seized on a poor error from Casemiro by finding the net.
Soon it was two when Jean-Philippe Mateta left Jonny Evans for dead and thumped past Andre Onana.
United trailed 2-0 at the break and it would only get worse as Tyrick Mitchell made it three and then Olise scored a sensational fourth. United have now conceded 81 goals in all competitions this season.
Dom Smith was at Selhurst Park to rate the Man Utd performances…
Andre Onana 5
Saved well from Will Hughes and from Eberechi Eze, but was beaten four times and nowhere near to any of them.
A couple of lung-busting runs forward, but too often caught out of position.
Casemiro 2
Given an absolutely torrid time by Olise, who sent him flying for Palace’s third and then nutmegged him with a classy backheel in the second half. Looked shaky all evening. Lost the ball for the fourth goal. Woeful.

Jonny Evans 4
Mateta turned him way too easily for the second goal — the Northern Irishman caught flat-footed.
Eze beat him nicely at one moment, and he never really recovered. Difficult evening for one of United’s more consistent players.
A few nice turns showed on his first start since November. Did okay.
Got through plenty of running and played one or two nice, raking passes, but United’s entire midfield was completely overrun.
Antony 4
Anonymous from start to finish. Subbed on the hour mark.
Wasteful with a first-half free-kick where he scored have hit the target. More composed than some of his teammates.
Given the ball very rarely by his teammates so had few chances to run at Palace’s back-line.
Smart to hold Dean Henderson off from a corner where United were harshly disallowed an equaliser on the grounds that Hojlund had fouled Henderson. Otherwise quiet.
Subs:
Sofyan Amrabat (Antony, 60’) 4
Won the ball in the air a few times. Slid needlessly in on Olise and got booked for it.
Amad Diallo (Mount, 80’) N/A
Ethan Wheatley (Hojlund, 80’) N/A
Not used: Bayindir, Heaton, Amass, Jackson, Ogunneye, Collyer
