Making big plays: Jackson area spring sports top performers for Week 8

The end of the TSSAA spring sports regular season is near.

In the Jackson area, plenty of teams are putting themselves in position to succeed when the TSSAA playoffs begin next week.

As the regular season comes to an end, it's time to take a look at the top performers for the Jackson area in Week 8.

WEDNESDAY

Softball

Addison Hampton, Bruceton: Hampton struck out 12 batters in a 2-0 complete game win over Houston County.

Lilly McGee, Bruceton: McGee knocked around three hits and drove in a run.

Izzie Lax, Bolivar: Lax knocked around four hits, including two doubles, in the Tigers' 18-16 win over Middleton.

Addyson Smith, Bolivar: Smith drove in five runs on four hits, including two triples, in the Tigers' 18-16 win over Middleton.

Avery Wright, Camden: Wright drove in three runs on two hits, a home run and a double, in the Lions' 6-5 win over Stewart County.

Maggie Coffman, Jackson Christian: Coffman drove in four runs on one hit in the Eagles' 18-3 win over Fayette Academy (4 innings).

Jenna Tinsley, Jackson Christian: Tinsley drove in four runs on two hits, including a three-run home run, in the Eagles' win over Fayette Academy.

Brianna Smith, Middleton: Smith drove in five runs on two hits, including a double and a triple, in a high-scoring loss to Bolivar.

Brooklyn Webb, Middleton: Webb drove in four runs on four hits, including a double and a triple, in an 18-16 loss to Bolivar.

Hayley Barnett, Peabody: Barnett totaled 5 RBIs in a doubleheader sweep of North Side (16-0 (4 innings) and 24-1 (4 innings), including 4 RBIs with a hit in the nightcap and struck out nine batters in the opener.

Kylie Frost, Riverside: Frost drove in four runs on two hits, including a three-run home run, in the Panthers' 9-4 win over Collinwood.

Haylen Ayers, USJ: Ayers knocked around four hits and collected a RBI in the Bruins' 7-0 win over TCA.

Taylar Shands, USJ: Shands drove in four runs on three hits, including a two-run home run, in the Bruins' win over TCA.

Baseball

Reed Harmon, Adamsville: Harmon collected two RBIs and three hits in the Cardinals' 6-3 win over Bolivar.

Blaine Nichols, Crockett County: Nichols had two RBIs on a hit in the Cavaliers' 6-3 win over Chester County.

Caden Sparkman, Greenfield: Sparkman knocked around three hits, including a double, in the Jackets' 8-5 win over South Fulton.

Ethan Schweer, Liberty: Schweer doubled and scored two runs in the Crusaders' 6-4 win over Humboldt, Liberty's first win of the season.

Zack Littrell, Madison: Littrell drove in three runs on two doubles in the Mustangs' 12-0 win over Liberty. Littrell also struck out the side in the first inning, his only inning on the mound.

Jake Cassidy, McKenzie: Cassidy struck out eight batters in a 6-1 win over Bruceton.

Kyler Southland, Union City: Southland knocked around three hits, including a double and a triple, and drove in two runs in the Golden Tornadoes' 9-3 win over Dresden.

TUESDAY

Soccer

Christian Melton, USJ: Melton netted a hat trick and tallied two assists in the Bruins' 9-0 win over TCA to clinch the Division II-District 5 regular season championship.

Anderson Preston, USJ: Preston netted a hat trick and tallied two assists in the Bruins' 9-0 win over TCA.

Softball

Madison Holder, Bruceton: Holder drove in four runs and knocked around two doubles while picking up the win in the circle in a 12-5 complete game victory over McEwen.

Addison Milam, Clarksburg: Milam hit an inside-the-park home run in the Rockets' 7-6 win over Middleton.

Carlie Swinford, Clarksburg: Swinford hit a triple and drove in two runs in the win over Middleton.

Sadie Hoover, Crockett County: Hoover drove in two runs with a single in the Cavaliers' 6-0 win over Dyer County.

Piper White, Crockett County: White drove in two runs and scored twice in the win over Dyer County.

Paisley Pittman, Dresden: Pittman collected four RBIs on four hits in the Lions' 15-0 win over Lake County (4 innings).

Eva Stafford, Dresden: Stafford threw a four-inning no-hitter and racked up 10 strikeouts in a 15-0 win over Lake County and hit a double at the plate.

Andrea Criswell, Gibson County: Criswell knocked around four hits and drove in two runs in the Pioneers' 11-7 win over Ripley.

Emily Porter, Gibson County: Porter drove in four runs on two hits, including a double, in the Pioneers' win over Ripley.

Katelyn Coulston, Haywood: Coulston drove in three runs on three hits and scored twice in the Tomcats' 20-6 win over Fayette Ware.

Samiah Johnson, Haywood: Johnson drove in five runs and knocked around five hits, including a double and triple, in the Tomcats' blowout win over Fayette Ware.

Karly Young, Haywood: Young collected three RBIs on four hits, including an inside-the-park home run in the Tomcats' win over Fayette Ware.

Natalie Kreuziger, Huntingdon: Kreuziger struck out 14 batters in a complete game victory over Stewart County.

Kylie Tippitt, Huntingdon: Tippitt drove in three runs and hit a home run in the Fillies' 8-0 win over Stewart County.

Lauren Johnson, Lexington: Johnson delivered a go-ahead RBI double and picked up the save in a dramatic 2-1 win over Hardin County.

Kenli Bingham, McNairy Central: Bingham hit a home run and collected three RBIs in the Bobcats' win over Chester County.

Bailee Shelton, McNairy Central: Shelton struck out 15 batters in a 7-1 complete game victory over Chester County.

Carlee Shelton, McNairy Central: Shelton hit a home run and collected three RBIs in the Bobcats' win over Chester County.

Haylee Barnett, Peabody: Barnett drove in six runs with four hits, including a three-run home run, and picked up the win in the circle in the Golden Tide's 19-3 win over McKenzie (3 innings).

Izzie Jones, Peabody: Jones drove in four runs on four hits, including a double, for the Golden Tide.

Macie Rowan, Peabody: Rowan knocked around three doubles and drove in three runs against McKenzie.

Skylar Smith, Peabody: Smith drove in four runs on three hits to help the Golden Tide offense over McKenzie.

Kyra Ard, South Side: Ard struck out 10 batters in a complete game effort to lead the Hawks to a 5-1 win over Milan.

Mycah Mays, South Side: Mays hit a two-run home run for the Hawks in their win over Milan.

Hayley Lewis, TCA: Lewis drove in four runs on three doubles in the Lions' 20-8 win over Fayette Academy (4 innings).

Jenna Joyce, TCA: Joyce recorded three RBIs with a triple in the Lions' win over Fayette Academy.

Mattie Smith, Union City: Smith threw a three-inning perfect game for the Golden Tornadoes in a 15-0 win over Greenfield (3 innings). She had four strikeouts. Smith also had three RBIs on two hits, including a double.

Caleb Cole, Chester County: Cole had two RBIs and a double in the Eagles' 6-3 win over McNairy Central.

Cameron Schlicht, Dresden: Schlicht drove in five runs on two hits, including a double, in the Lions' 11-1 win over Gleason (6 innings).

Caden Sparkman, Greenfield: Sparkman drove in five runs on three hits, including two doubles, in the Jackets' 11-1 win over Liberty (5 innings).

Ryder Harville, Hardin County: Harville drove in two runs on two hits in a 15-1 win over North Side.

Drew Leek, Haywood: Leek struck out eight batters and collected two RBIs in a 15-0 win over Bolton (4 innings).

Braylon Rich, Huntingdon: Rich collected two hits and a RBI in the Mustangs' 14-0 win over Bruceton (6 innings).

Brady Warbritton, Huntingdon: Warbritton had two RBIs and a hit in the Mustangs' win over Bruceton.

Stone Wallace, Riverside: Wallace hit a grand slam as part of a four-RBI, three-hit game in the Panthers' 13-6 win over Adamsville.

Jackson Crider, Scotts Hill: Crider drove in three runs on two hits in the Lions' 7-1 win over Madison.

Cy Maness, Scotts Hill: Maness struck out eight in a complete game victory over Madison and drove in a run on one hit.

Tommy Baker, South Gibson: Baker hit a home run in the Hornets' 4-0 win over Crockett County and was the only player in the game to record multiple hits.

Harrison Vance, TCA: Vance hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh for the Lions in their 2-1 win over Fayette Academy.

Brady Gardner, Westview: Gardner racked up 12 strikeouts across six innings in a 5-3 win over Peabody and knocked around a double and a triple to help the offense.

Sam Shelley, Westview: Shelley drove in two runs on three hits for the Chargers in their win over Peabody.

Brayden McLemore, Adamsville: McLemore struck out seven batters across five innings in a 1-0 win over Riverside.

Landon Hagan, Bradford: Hagan collected four RBIs and three hits in a doubleheader sweep against Humboldt, including three RBIs and two hits in the 16-1 victory in the opener.

Ethan Richardson, Bradford: Richardson totaled four RBIs and three hits, including a double and a triple, in the Red Devils' doubleheader sweep over Humboldt.

Dean Estes, Chester County: Estes struck out seven batters in 5 2/3 innings in a 4-3 win over McNairy Central.

Talon Messer, Dyer County: Messer had a two-run double to help Dyer County to a 6-4 win over Collierville.

Blaine Fisher, Gibson County: Fisher had a three-run single in the first inning and finished with two hits and two runs scored in an 11-0 win over Greenfield.

Keaton Davis, Hardin County: Davis had three hits and two RBIs in the win over North Side.

Stryder Jones, Hardin County: Jones threw a no-hitter with eight strikeouts in an 11-0 win over North Side.
