Mad Bets: NFL Week 16 Prop Bets

Minty Bets, Jared Quay & Liz Loza debate a few prop bets for Week 16 of the 2020 NFL season.

Video Transcript

MINTY BETS: It's Week 16 of the NFL, and it's time for fantasy props. I'm here with fantasy analyst Liz Loza and Jared Quay. Guys, let's get started. Fantasy prop number one, who will score more touchdowns? Aaron Rodgers, and we'll favor him by a touchdown and a half, or Derrick Henry? And we'll start with Liz Loza.

LIZ LOZA: Well, let's see. What's worse, the Titans' pass rush or the Packers' run defense? I'm going to give the advantage to Aaron Rodgers on this one, because he'll have had 10 days to stew about his single score effort in Week 15. And we all know he wants to win that MVP race. Also, the current projected total on this game is 56 points. So that means a lot of passing. And the Packers have allowed a total of 18 scores to running backs, while the Titans have given up 32 touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks. Give me A-Rod.

JARED QUAY: I hate to disagree on this, because I'm usually wrong when I do, but I got to go Henry. I think he wins outright. I think the difference is, is Tannehill really balances the defense. You can't load the box on Derrick Henry, because Tannehill will make you pay. And I think that just adds to Derrick Henry's value, because when they get those red zone situations, he's not getting stopped when he's inside the five. And so I think he may get two, possibly three touchdowns this week. And I need the Green Bay to win because I'm a Ravens fan!

MINTY BETS: All right. Well, Jared, I'm going to have to agree with you and disagree with Liz. Derrick Henry, I think he's going to run it in for at least two himself. And yeah, Aaron Rodgers might pass for two or three, but if we're favoring him by a touchdown and a half, then my pick is Derrick Henry. Now, fantasy prop number two. Who will have more receiving yards, DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, or Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods? Jared, let's start with you.

JARED QUAY: All right, you got to go DK. I just feel like the Rams run defense is pretty stout, and I feel like Russell, I mean, he's a fourth quarter comeback kid. So if this game's close, I feel like he may throw for 150 yards in the fourth quarter alone. And the Rams' running game is really what they want to lean on, so I don't see Jared Goff throwing the ball 40-plus times here. So I just, give me DK and Tyler Lockett.

LIZ LOZA: Well, even though Jared didn't agree with me earlier, I'm going to agree with him on this one, because for me this is about which quarterback do I trust more. I still think that he has the ability, like Jared was saying, to impro downfield passes, especially in the fourth quarter, whereas Jared Goff, I mean, everything's got to be scripted and schemed up. So much work for Sean McVay to do.

Plus yes, Aaron Donald is going to pressure Russell Wilson, and he's going to try to fluster him. But the Seahawks defense has gotten better down the stretch. Do you know that Jamal Adams is being used as a pass rusher, unlike a quarter of his snaps? And we know what happens when Jared Goff gets flustered, not great things. I will take DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

MINTY BETS: Well, I hate to disagree with both of you, but I'm going with Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods. We know Seattle has one of the worst passing defenses. And yeah, they've improved, but they're still one of the worst, plain and simple. Now, fantasy prop number three. Mitch Trubisky over or under three total touchdowns against the Jags?

I think I'll go first on this one, and I'm going with the under. Surprise, surprise. This is Mitch Trubisky, guys. It's not Patrick Mahomes, it's not Aaron Rodgers. Mitch is playing against one of the bottom-ranked defenses in the Jags, yeah, but again, this is Mitch Trubisky. I think if anything, he'll get three total touchdowns, but nothing more. They don't need to roll over the Jaguars in this game. Liz, what do you think?

LIZ LOZA: I mean, Minty, it is so good to be reunited with you. I love your unders, and I am fine and agree with you this week. If this prop were about David Montgomery, it might be a tougher decision. But Mitch is going to manage. That's what he did last week at Minnesota. I know the Jags defense has been in the holiday spirit since September, just giving up all the yards on the ground, through the air. But I have been a Bears fan too long to bet on a quarterback when the run game is working. Under.

JARED QUAY: I'm going over. I'm going over for one reason. The Jaguars have one thing to do this week, and that's lose. And don't make it close and pretty, make it big and obvious, all right? And the Bears, on the other hand, are trying to get their stuff together. They're trying to figure out who's going to be their quarterback in the future. I don't see them trying to run the ball three times to get this game over with. Oh, no. They're going to do what teams have been doing to them, and they're going to run the score up here. So I see Mitch go for maybe four touchdowns. Put him in your fantasy lineups. I'm saying it, in your fantasy final, start Mitchell Trubisky.

MINTY BETS: Wow, very bold, Jared. All right, you guys, do not forget to check out Fantasy Football Live every Sunday, right before kickoff on the Yahoo Sports app.
