LSU football Pro Day: Bill Belichick speaks with Jayden Daniels and BJ Ojulari's injury

BATON ROUGE — The most notable aspect of LSU football's Pro Day on Wednesday had little to do with the players participating in it.

Instead, many eyes shifted to New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, who made an appearance to watch LSU's array of talent while also mingling with LSU coach Brian Kelly, LSU football general manager Brian Polian and others.

Most notably, the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach spoke with Jayden Daniels, watching him closely as Daniels threw to Jaray Jenkins and Kayshon Boutte during wide receiver positional drills.

Daniels won't be in a Patriot uniform this fall; he didn't even enter the NFL Draft. And Belichick already has an SEC quarterback on his roster with former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones as New England's starter.

But who knows? Perhaps Daniels has a strong 2023 and winds up in New England in 13 months.

BJ Ojulari injury during draft training

Ojulari revealed after his Pro Day workout that he has been limited by a right hamstring injury.

"It's been a constant thing. It started (at) the beginning of the training process for the draft and then it just recently happened again two weeks ago," Ojulari said.

His doctors recommended that Ojulari not participate in Wednesday's Pro Day and let the injury heal. But he still wanted to compete, so that's what he did.

"I think under the circumstances I did very well," Ojulari said. "I just wanted to show the scout that I was here to compete and show them how explosive (I am)."

Jarrick Bernard-Converse shines

Perhaps the biggest star of Wednesday's Pro Day was Jarrick Bernard-Converse.

Bernard-Converse, who was not invited to the NFL Draft Combine, unofficially ran 4.40 seconds in the 40-yard dash, which would have finished eighth among cornerbacks in Indianapolis. His 42-inch vertical would have tied for first.

"I felt pretty good coming out here competing with my brothers one last time on this field," Bernard-Converse said. "I feel like overall I did pretty well."
