LSU football adds Marshall safety Andre Sam from transfer portal

BATON ROUGE – Marshall safety Andre Sam is transferring to LSU football, he announced Thursday on Twitter.

Sam had 53 total tackles and seven pass breakups with the Thundering Herd last season. Before then, he spent four seasons at McNeese State and was twice a first-team, All-Southland Conference selection.

He also attended Iowa High School in Louisiana.

"Committed," Sam wrote.

Sam adds much-needed veteran depth to the LSU secondary.

Greg Brooks Jr. and Major Burns are expected to start, with Sage Ryan projected to be a major contributor at the position with SEC experience. However, although there is plenty of talent behind that trio, Matthew Langlois, Jordan Allen, Ryan Yaites, Kylin Jackson and Javien Toviano have little to no playing experience.
