LSU baseball score vs. Kentucky: Live updates from Baton Rouge Super Regional

BATON ROUGE – LSU baseball will look to advance to the College World Series with a win in Game 2 of the Baton Rouge Super Regional on Sunday, as the Tigers face off against Kentucky (5 p.m., ESPN2).

The Tigers (47-15) pulverized the Wildcats in Game 1 of the super regional on Saturday, 14-0. LSU blasted six home runs and starting pitcher Paul Skenes shut out the Wildcats (40-20) with nine strikeouts in 7⅔ innings pitched.

LSU's drubbing occurred after a seven-hour weather delay, as the start time for the matchup was pushed back three times despite there not being a drop of rain until the sixth hour of the delay. The game was originally slated to begin at 2 p.m. CT.

"The largest window of lightning was at 3 p.m. today if you looked at it, and it was looked at from every angle," LSU coach Jay Johnson said on Saturday. "The enable weather service was on a call with myself, my sport administrator, their coach, their sport administrator, all the games committee, and if you listened to that call, there would probably be a greater understanding of why we didn't start the game."

An LSU win on Sunday would clinch its first College World Series berth since 2017.

If necessary, Game 3 of the super regional is scheduled for Monday. Game time and television information for that potential matchup has yet to be determined.

The Tigers, the No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament, advanced to the super regionals after winning all three of their contests in the Baton Rouge Regional this past week. LSU defeated Tulane and Oregon State twice to advance.

Kentucky, the No. 12 seed, won three consecutive do-or-die games in the Lexington Regional to advance to the program's second-ever super regional. The Wildcats split the first two games and then defeated West Virginia and Indiana twice to win the regional.
