Lowell football beats Weston-McEwen to claim OSAA Class 2A state title
No. 3 Lowell football defeated No. 1 Weston-McEwen74-42to claim the OSAA Class 2A state title on Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium.
This is Lowell’s first state title in program history.
JaMar Thurman rushed for five touchdowns and 273 yards and caught another for the Devils.
Sophomore quarterback Carter Harris completed 11 of 17 passes for 270 yards and four touchdowns for the Devils. Rowan Files caught two touchdown passes from Harris.
On defense, Louie Estrada and Files each had six solo tackles.
Lowell used seven plays to score its first points. JaMar Thurman scored on a 6-yard run, Files added a two-point conversion and Harris tossed a 60-yard touchdown to Justus Thurman to help the Devils grab an early 15-0 lead.
Weston-McEwen was not fazed by the early deficit, however. The TigerScots scored once on Maddox Kings' 3-yard run. Meanwhile, Harris connected with JaMar Thurman on a 16-yard touchdown reception, extending the Devils lead to 22-7.
