How low did Gracie Grant shoot Monday to lead Niceville to a 14th straight district title?

MILTON — The names may change, but the postseason path always begins the same for Niceville girls golf.

On Monday the Eagles carded a 315 behind Gracie Grant's low-medalist, 2-under-par 70 to run away with the District 1-3A title at Stonebrook Golf Club. It's the 14th straight for the Eagles, who flashed some depth Monday.

Following Grant were Cloe Rich with a 76, Camryn Lux with a career-low 79 and Ariel Kim with a 90 for the Eagles, who didn't have a competitor with 60 strokes.

"The girls played great today on a tough course," Niceville coach Mitch Inness said. "Gracie and Cloe did what they have been doing all season leading our team. Really proud of Camryn also. She shot her lowest 18 holes in high school."

It was the third straight district title for two-time reigning Daily News Golfer of the Year Grant, who lit the postseason on fire last season. After winning districts, Grant carded a 2-under 70 at regionals and finished runner-up at the truncated state tournament with an even-par 72 despite playing with strep throat. The Eagles finished second as a team at state, a familiar finish considering they've placed runner-up five times in the last nine years after winning it all in 2011.

At regionals, Niceville will face stiffer competition like reigning state champ Lake Mary, which beat the Eagles by 11 strokes at state last year and by 28 strokes the year before. The Region 1-1A tournament takes place Monday at Hawkstone Golf & Country Club in Gainesville.

As for the district tournament competition, Gulf Breeze finished in a distant second with a 376 and Tate carded a 384 for third. Host Pace followed in fourth with a 398, Navarre was fifth with a 401, Mosley was sixth with a 419 and Crestview was seventh with a 440.
