Louisville Cardinals beat Virginia Tech Hokies in ACC college football game at L&N Stadium

No. 15 Louisville has fared well at home this season with top 25 wins over Notre Dame and Duke. The Cardinals will play their final ACC home games of the season over the next week — hosting Virginia Tech today and Virginia on Thursday.

U of L looks to keep its home winning streak alive against a Hokies team that has won three of their last four games and is currently third in the ACC standings. One spot ahead in the league standings, the Cards will advance to the ACC championship game for the first time in program history if they win out.

Louisville 27, Virginia Tech 3 (3Q, 6:58)

Isaac Guerendo notched his first 100-yard game of the season on a 12-yard touchdown run. Guerendo now has 10 rushed for 110 yards and two scores. The Cards took over the ball after Storm Duck deflected a pass that was intercepted by T.J. Quinn at the VT 35.

Louisville 21, Virginia Tech 3 (3Q, 9:38)

Louisville receiver Jadon Thompson caught a 13-yard slant and raced 24 more yards to the end zone for a 37-yard touchdown catch. It was Thompson's first touchdown at U of L.

Kicker John Love gets the Hokies' first and only points of the first half on a 44-yard field goal.

Louisville's Brock Travelstead hooked a 31-yard field goal left to end a 56-yard drive at the VT 14.

Louisville 14, Virginia Tech 0 (2Q, 14:52)

Isaac Guerendo burst 39 yards off the left tackle for the Cards second rushing touchdown of the game. Guerendo also had a 27-yard run on the drive in his only other rushing attempt. U of L has 110 yards rushing total and are averaging 9.2 yards per carry.

Louisville 7, Virginia Tech 0 (1Q, 6:53)

The Cards scored a touchdown on their opening drive for the sixth time this season. It happened when running back Jawhar Jordan channeled his inner Walter Payton and launched himself from the 3-yard line over the middle of the line into the end zone.

4-star WR Jojo Stone commits to Louisville ahead of game

Former LSU commit Jojo Stone committed to the Cardinals ahead of their game against Virginia Tech. The four-star wide receiver from Georgia decommitted from the Tigers on Oct. 17. In committing to U of L, he posted on social media that will be in attendance at L&N Stadium for Louisville's game against the Hokies.

Louisville football injuries

Louisville wide receiver Jamari Thrash (upper body) and cornerback Jarvis Brownlee will be out today against Virginia Tech while running back Jawhar Jordan (hamstring), left tackle Willie Tyler and center Bryan Hudson will be game-time decisions, per ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Brownlee was on the field ahead of the game with a boot on his right foot.
