Louisiana-Lafayette WR Michael Jefferson injured in fatal head-on car crash
Potential NFL draft pick Michael Jefferson was injured in a head-on collision Sunday night in Alabama that left one man dead.
According to ESPN, Jefferson's agent says the former Louisiana-Lafayette wide receiver required multiple surgeries after the multicar crash in Mobile, Alabama.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said in a news release obtained by ESPN that the car Jefferson was driving collided with a Dodge Charger, which hit another vehicle.
The 55-year-old driver of the Charger was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jefferson has been projected as a potential middle-round pick in the upcoming NFL draft.
The 6-4 Jefferson caught 51 passes for 810 yards and seven touchdowns last season for the Ragin' Cajuns.
Over five total seasons at Alabama State and Louisiana-Lafayette, Jefferson had 154 catches for 2,407 yards and 29 touchdowns.
