It looks like Bears rookie Dazz Newsome will make his NFL debut vs. Vikings

It will be all hands on deck for the Chicago Bears tonight when they take on the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football.

With various players either out due to injury or on the COVID-19 list, the Bears will need all the help they can get. It already appears one reinforcement is on his way up to making his NFL debut.

Rookie wide receiver Dazz Newsome will reportedly be called up from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of tonight’s game, according to his agent Kate Ferrara.

A post on her Instagram page with a graphic saying “Dazz Newsome NFL debut” was accompanied by the “We’ve been ready for this!!! 💯💯 💯💯 Let’s go @dazznewsome!!! It’s only up from here! 🚀🙏🏽🙌🏽 #MNF.”

Newsome was drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL draft out of North Carolina. In 12 games as a Tar Heel, Newsome caught 54 passes for 684 yards and seven touchdowns on offense during his last season in college. He was billed as a speedy wide receiver who could potentially carve out a role as a returner on special teams.

After a lackluster preseason, however, Newsome was among the team’s final roster cuts and landed on the practice squad. Now, he’ll get a chance to show what he can do, whether it’s on offense or special teams.

With Allen Robinson still on the COVID-19 list and Marquise Goodwin doubtful for the game, the Bears need some help at the receiver position. Newsome will try and show he deserves to stick around for the rest of the season.
