Looking for FC Cincinnati's locker room Supporters Shield shirt? What you need to know

FC Cincinnati defender Nick Hagglund and forward Brandon Vazquez celebrate with fans and the rest of the team after they arrive at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport after defeating Toronto FC, 3-2, to win the Supporters Shield trophy, or best regular-season record based Major League Soccer point system, Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, in Hebron, Ky.

Suffice it to say there's been high demand for the FC Cincinnati Supporters' Shield shirts worn by players and staff after the club clinched the trophy. A team official said it will have more of the locker room t-shirts in time for the next home game, which is when the club also plans to raise the trophy at TQL Stadium.

The next availability of FC Cincinnati's Supporters' Shield shirts will be at Wednesday's game at TQL Stadium against New York Red Bulls. The shirts will be sold in the main team store, FC Cincinnati's Director of Communications John Horlander told The Enquirer, adding the team is working with its vendors to continue producing the shirts.

Analysis: What we learned from FC Cincinnati's Supporters Shield-clinching victory

FC Cincinnati defendersRaymon Gaddis and Nick Hagglund, and forward Brandon Vazquez celebrate with fans fans after they arrive at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport after defeating Toronto FC, 3-2, to win the Supporters Shield trophy, or best regular-season record based Major League Soccer point system, Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, in Hebron, Ky.

The blue shirts feature FC Cincinnati's orange, winged, sword-wielding lion holding the Supporters Shield.

Printing on the right sleeve of the shirt reads: "FC Cincinnati, 2023 Supporters' Shield."

It's possible the shirts could sell out again Wednesday prior to FC Cincinnati's match against Red Bulls but the organization intends to continue producing the popular item for the foreseeable future.

On Sunday, pictures were shared on "X," formerly Twitter, of the line snaking through Over-the-Rhine of locals waiting outside the FC Cincinnati Team Store at 1433 Vine St. for the shirts, which sold-out within minutes.

Demand was high after players were handed the shirts on the BMO Field playing surface moments after beating Toronto FC, 3-2, to clinch the Supporters Shield on Saturday.

Players were then photographed donning the shirts during a raucous post-match party in the BMO Field visitors' locker room.

Wednesday's match against the Red Bulls is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.

Wednesday's Supporters Shield in-stadium celebration

During Saturday's alcohol-soaked, post-match celebration at BMO Field, head coach Pat Noonan and players referenced celebrating with the club's fans on Wednesday. That was obviously a reference to the club's match at TQL Stadium against Red Bulls, which is still important as FC Cincinnati can break the MLS single-season points record in the standings if it wins the final three matches.

But as for the Wednesday celebration mentioned on Saturday, the club is also advertising it on its website. There's even a countdown clock ticking down toward the celebration.

For now, club officials are asking fans to remain in their seats at the conclusion of Wednesday's match, win or lose, for what will likely be a hoisting of the trophy.
