‘Look what the ‘Football god’ placed in my room’: Emmett Jones excited about D.J. Graham’s potential

Oklahoma Sooners’ wide receivers coach has only been on the job a couple of months, but he’s already made a strong impression in Norman and on the recruiting trail.

Brent Venables spoke very highly of Jones when he met with the media to introduce the Sooners’ new arrivals a few weeks ago. And Jones moved the needle for the Sooners in the recruitment of several 2024 wide receivers, namely Bryant Wesco out of Midlothian.

As Jones gets acclimated with the University of Oklahoma, he’s get a handle on what he has in the wide receiver group. Needless to say, D.J. Graham is someone he’s excited about.

On Twitter, Jones said, “HS coaches always walk the halls or hang out in the gym to find potential players. Look what the ‘Football God’ placed in my room!!!” In the highlight Jones shared the incredible one-handed interception, Graham made against the Nebraska Cornhuskers back in 2021.

After playing cornerback for the Oklahoma Sooners the first couple of seasons in Norman, Graham is making the switch back to wide receiver. At Keller Central, north of Fort Worth, Texas, Graham was a standout wide receiver in addition to turning heads at cornerback.

In four seasons on varsity, Graham caught 152 passes for 2,090, and 18 touchdowns.

He certainly has the hands and the athleticism to make plays in the passing game. Given the whole left by Marvin Mims, there’s an opportunity for Graham to find a role after making the move to WR during the fall.
