Look: Commanders happy to see Taylor Heinicke

It’s no secret how popular Taylor Heinicke was with his former teammates with the Washington Commanders. Now, with the Atlanta Falcons as a backup quarterback, Heinicke’s new team faced his old team on Sunday.

Unlike his last two times playing in this game, Heinicke was on the losing end Sunday, as the Commanders defeated the Falcons, 24-16.

But before and after the game, Heinicke met with his former teammates, from Sam Howell to Terry McLaurin. After the game, Heinicke and Howell swapped jerseys as players often do.

Heinicke was the player who spoke up for Howell ahead of Week 18 last season, encouraging head coach Ron Rivera to start the then-rookie in what would be a meaningless season finale.

Here, the former Washington QB is with McLaurin, who never shied away from his appreciation for Heinicke. After McLaurin and Heinicke share a moment, assistant running backs coach Jennifer King also met with Heinicke.

Here, Rivera and Heinicke share a moment together.

Don’t be surprised if Heinicke isn’t Atlanta’s quarterback soon.
