LOCAL ROUNDUP: BHRA boys basketball crushes Cissna Park

Dec. 7—CISSNA PARK — The Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin boys basketball team was able to beat Cissna Park 76-34 on Tuesday.

Keison Peoples had 17 points to lead the Blue Devils, while Micah Stanford had 13 points, Ayden Ingram had 13, Caden Keleminic had nine, Chaz Dubois and Anderson Thomas each had eight and Landon Leigh added seven.

The Blue Devils will play Notre Dame de La Salette Academy on Friday.

FITHIAN — The Oakwood boys basketball team faced another tough test on Tuesday against St. Thomas More.

The Comets scored 24 points in the fourth quarter, but the rally fell shot as they lost 49-47 to the Sabers.

Cort Vermillion had 17 points to lead the Comets, while Brody Taflinger had eight points and Bryson McDaniel, Carsen Dudley and Jackson Dudley each had six points.

The Comets will try to regroup on Dec. 12 in another test against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin.

Drew Wichtowski had 14 points for the Tigers, who had a 19-14 halftime lead and boosted that with a 16-6 third quarter, while Tyler Miller had 13, Cameron Steinbaugh had nine and Matthew Darling added four.

Gavin Schunke led the Bearcats with eight, while Carson Shields had six points and Beau Wright and Tyler Runner each added four.

The Tigers played Heritage on Wednesday.

COVINGTON, Ind. — The Covington boys basketball team outscored Western Boone 16-8 in the fourth quarter to get a 54-48 win on Tuesday.

Landon Herzog had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Trojams, who was down 27-21 at halftime, while Austin Stein had 11 points with eight assists and seven rebounds, Coye Ferguson had 10 points with four assists, four blocks, four rebounds and four steals and Max Waddell had seven points.

The Trojans will host Attica on Friday.

PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL

Danville 62, Centennial 45

CHAMPAIGN — The Danville girls basketball team started the week with a 62-45 win over Champaign Centennial in Big 12 Conference play.

Jada Bell led the Lady Vikings with 23 points, while Ashanti Conaway had 11 points, Amara McFarland had eight points, Adrienna Burns had seven points and Anna Houpt added six points.

Danville jumped out to a 36-16 halftime lead and did not let the Chargers get any closer.

After playing Decatur MacArthur on Wednesday, the Lady Vikings will play Urbana today.

BISMARCK — The Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin girls basketball team pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Covington 38-31 on Tuesday.

Beth McMahon had 17 points for the Blue Devils, with five points in a key 12-6 fourth quarter, while Ella Myers had 11 points and also had five points in the fourth and Ava Acton had five points.

Alex Sutherlin had 10 points to lead the Trojans, while Peyton Brown had six points, Sydni Crain had five points and Emma Holycross and Lily Hacquet each added four points.

The Blue Devils will host Schlarman Academy on Thursday, while the Trojans will play South Vermillion on Dec. 12.

Kacey Kirkpatrick had 13 points and four rebounds for the Mustangs, who jumped out to a 15-9 lead after the first quarter, while Hannah Prickett had nine points and three rebounds, Brailey Hoagland had five points and four steals and Henley Good had three points and four rebounds.

Cadence White had eight points for Seeger, while Addie Shrader had seven, Hannah Frodge added five and Rylea Wetz had four points and eight rebounds.

The Mustangs will play North Vermillion on Thursday, while the Patriots will play Riverton Parke.

Parke Heritage 61, N. Vermillion 30

ROCKVILLE, Ind. — The North Vermillion girls basketball team lost 61-30 to Parke Heritage on Tuesday in Wabash River Conference action.

Lauren Ellis had 13 points to lead the Falcons, while Cadence Dunham had eight points and Ava Jumps had four points.

North Vermillion will face Fountain Central on Thursday.

ARMSTRONG — The Salt Fork girls basketball team scored double figures in the first three quarters on Monday's game with Armstrong-Potomac en route to a 50-19 win.

Macie Russell had 16 points with 14 in the first quarter for the Storm, while Alexa Jamison had 11 points in her first action of the season after coming back from an injury, Bracie Hird had six and Sailor Pacot had six points.

Elle Jameson had 10 points to lead the Trojans, while Cala Reifsteck had four points.

The Storm will host Hoopeston Area on Thursday, while the Trojans will play Oakwood on Thursday.
