Local Football Round Up: Myrtle Point advances to football semifinals

Nov. 14—Myrtle Point's football team is in the Class 1A 8-player semifinals after the Bobcats beat Adrian 58-22 at home on Saturday.

The Bobcats meet No. 2 Crane at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Caldera High School in Bend. Crane topped Enterprise 64-24 on Friday.

Myrtle Point beat Adrian for the second time this season and won its fourth game in a row since its lone loss to top-ranked Lost River.

The Bobcats are 8-1 overall, while Crane is a perfect 9-0.

The other semifinal, which will be played at Caldera at 1 p.m., features Lost River against No. 5 seed St. Paul. Lost River beat Perrydale 49-14 and St. Paul downed Imbler 34-22.

ECHO 46, POWERS 18: The Cruisers saw their unbeaten season come to an end when they lost at home in the six-player quarterfinals on Saturday.

Powers went unbeaten in league play for the third straight year, but didn't have enough offense against Echo, which will meet Powers' league rival Elkton in the semifinals at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium. Elkton, which suffered its only loss against Powers, topped South Wasco County 58-34 on Friday.

In the other semifinal, set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Hermiston High School, top-ranked Prairie City/Burnt River meets Joseph. Prairie City/Burnt River shut out North Lake 47-0 and Joseph beat Eddyville 44-6.

LOWELL 48, GOLD BEACH 20: The Red Devils topped the visiting Panthers on Friday to advance to the Class 2A semifinals against Oakland.

The Oakers topped Gervais 32-18 to set up the semifinal at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Willamette High School.

Top-ranked Weston-McEwen/Griswold faces Regis in the other semifinal at 4:30 p.m. at Hermiston High School. Weston-McEwen/Griswold beat Illinois Valley 59-18 and Regis topped Heppner 27-20.

CLASS 3A: Defending state champion Cascade Christian survived a scare from Vale to advance to the semifinals. The Challengers outlasted the Vikings 27-26 in overtime, stopping a two-point conversion after Vale had scored on its overtime possession and chose to go for the win.

Cascade Christian meets Dayton at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cottage Grove High School. Dayton beat Yamhill-Carlton 56-30.

In the other semifinal, top-ranked Banks faces South Umpqua at 4:30 p.m. at Cottage Grove after Banks beat North Valley 35-6 and South Umpqua shut out Far West League rival Lakeview 20-0.
