Postgame review: Jaguars pounded by Patriots and Bolles product Mac Jones
The Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots continue the closing stretch of the 2021 NFL season — and ring in 2022 — in Foxborough, Mass. The Jaguars, losers of their last seven, are expected to play without numerous starters because of COVID-19 protocols. The game matches rookie quarterbacks: The Jaguars' No. 1 overall draft pick Trevor Lawrence from Clemson against Patriots starter and Jacksonville native Mac Jones, from Bolles. The Patriots need a win to keep pace with the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East chase. Jaguars interim coach Darrell Bevell is still seeking his first win since replacing the fired Urban Meyer.

5:25 p.m. | Go-to guy: Laquon Treadwell has been one of the few bright spots on offense for Jaguars
Get your flashlight out and peer into the deep, dark place that has been the Jaguars 2021 season — especially in the wide receiver room.
One glimmer of hope that might be spotted is fifth-year pro Laquon Treadwell, who has made the best of a bad situation in the last six games. | Read more --Garry Smits
4:35 p.m. | Decimated, demoralized and defeated: Jaguars defense shows little fight against Mac Jones and Patriots

3:50 p.m. | FINAL: New England 50, Jacksonville 10
One of the heaviest losses in Jaguars history is now in the books.
3:41 p.m. | Touchdown Jaguars: Jags finally find end zone
It took more than a month and 184 attempts, but Trevor Lawrence finally has a touchdown pass. A short toss to Dare Ogunbowale and the running back does the rest to get to the end zone.
No question about the winner of this one, though.
Patriots 50, Jaguars 10, 3:48 4th.
3:34 p.m. | Touchdown again for Pats: Jaguars on course for heaviest-ever loss
It's getting even uglier. The Jaguars can't put the brakes on the New England offense at all, and it ends in another touchdown with backup QB Brian Hoyer on the field. At the end of the possession, Rhamondre Stevenson takes it into the end zone from 5 yards.
The Jaguars' heaviest loss ever was 44-0 to the Lions in 1995.
Patriots 50, Jaguars 3, 7:07 4th.
3:20 p.m. | Field goal: Nick Folk adds Patriots kick
That's another score for the Patriots, and it could have been more. Mac Jones had a likely TD pass dropped in the end zone by Kristian Wilkerson, and Brandon Bolden couldn't hold a swing pass in the flat that might have gone for big yardage. But the Patriots don't end up empty-handed. Nick Folk converted a field goal from 43 yards for a 41-point lead.
Patriots 44, Jaguars 3, 11:46 4th.
3:12 p.m. | End of 3rd quarter: New England 41, Jacksonville 3
The Jaguars are in jeopardy of suffering the heaviest loss in franchise history. That record is 44-0 against Detroit in 1995, the club's inaugural season.
3:01 p.m. | Touchdown Patriots: Rhamondre Stevenson scores after third pick
One play, one yard, one score. Set up in prime field position by that Kyle Dugger interception, the Patriots find the end zone at once on Rhamondre Stevenson's TD rush.
New England 41, Jacksonville 3, 2:42 3rd.
3:00 p.m. | Trevor Lawrence throws third INT
That's interception number three. On third-and-14, Trevor Lawrence looks for Marvin Jones, but Kyle Dugger sees it coming and picks it off. The Patriots' safety returns the ball to the 1.
2:58 p.m. | TD drought goes on for Trevor Lawrence
The Jaguars have forced the Patriots to punt, and that's a first for this game. But Trevor Lawrence is still looking for his first TD pass to end his drought, and with the ball backed up inside the Jacksonville 15, he's got a long way to go.
2:36 p.m. | Patriots score again after easy drive
New England is making this look easy. The Jaguars still don't have a defensive stop today, and they didn't come close to one this time. The Patriots advanced methodically up the field — a Rhamondre Stevenson rush here, a Jonnu Smith screen there — before Mac Jones fired his third touchdown pass of the afternoon, a 20-yard strike to a completely open Kristian Wilkerson. Adam Gotsis blocked the extra point, but that won't affect the outcome of this one.
Patriots 34, Jaguars 3, 11:14 3rd.
2:31 p.m. | Second-half kickoff time
The Patriots are set to receive the second-half kick. Every possession so far for New England has finished in the end zone.
2:18 p.m. | HALFTIME: New England 28, Jacksonville 3
A great Marvin Jones catch saves the Jaguars from what could've been a third interception. But New England defensive tackle Christian Barmore sacks Trevor Lawrence to end a miserable half for the Jags.
2:14 p.m. | Mac Jones throws another TD for Patriots
New England is turning this into a major blowout. Mac Jones finishes off the drive with a perfect fade pattern, 4 yards to Jakobi Meyers. The Jaguars' defense doesn't have a stop yet in this one.
Patriots 28, Jaguars 3, 0:48 2nd.
1:59 p.m. | Trevor Lawrence picked off again
That's turnover number two. Trevor Lawrence looks to his left for Tavon Austin, but the ball is wide of the receiver and zips into the waiting arms of Patriots defensive back J.C. Jackson. It's the eighth pick of the year for the Pro Bowl corner and, once again, it means New England's offense will go to work from Jacksonville territory.

1:51 p.m. | Patriots make Jaguars pay: Mac Jones throws TD pass
Yes, it's getting worse for the Jaguars. Presented with a short field, the Patriots started moving the ball on the ground, even giving tight end Jonnu Smith a carry. Mac Jones finished the drive with a 6-yard pass to Kristian Wilkerson, the first TD reception of the wideout's career.
Patriots 21, Jaguars 3, 4:40 2nd.
1:44 p.m. | Interception: Myles Bryant picks off Trevor Lawrence
That's the end of that drive. It's the 15th interception of the season from Trevor Lawrence, but the pass wasn't much off target, slightly high but catchable. Unfortunately for the Jaguars, the ball ricocheted off the hands of Ryquell Armstead and straight to Patriots defensive back Myles Bryant, who returned the interception deep into Jacksonville territory at the 33.
1:36 p.m. | Touchdown: Damien Harris scores again for Patriots
New England's offense is making this look easy. The Jaguars' kickoff was short and Mac Jones started with fine field position. The rookie from Bolles found Hunter Henry for a pass inside the red zone, after several rushes from Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson, and Harris eventually scored his second TD with a a power run from 7 yards.
Patriots 14, Jaguars 3, 12:02 2nd.
1:30 p.m. | End of 1st quarter: New England 7, Jacksonville 3
That's the end of the opening quarter.
1:24 p.m. | Field goal: Matthew Wright puts Jaguars on board
The long drive didn't end in a score, after a third-down overthrow, but Matthew Wright entered to kick the 29-yard field goal from the hold of J.K. Scott. The Jaguars are on the board.
Patriots 7, Jaguars 3, 2:18 1st.
1:21 p.m. | Laquon Treadwell catches deep ball from Trevor Lawrence
The Jaguars haven't had a lot of big plays of late, but Trevor Lawrence — who had just rushed for a long gain on third-and-long — connected with Laquon Treadwell on one of the team's longest plays for a while. Lawrence lofted a pass over the secondary for Treadwell to grab in coverage for a gain of nearly 40. A nice grab there for the wideout.
1:15 p.m. | Touchdown Patriots: Damien Harris pushes New England into early lead
That didn't take very long. Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars went three-and-out, including a sack by New England linebacker Dont'a Hightower, and the Patriots' offense went to work.
Mac Jones led New England down the field on a patient, methodical drive, capped with a 1-yard Damien Harris plunge. The Jaguars, once more, are starting from behind.
Patriots 7, Jaguars 0, 5:49 1st.
1:02 p.m. | Patriots to kick off
The Jaguars, missing numerous starters, will receive the opening kick.
