LIVE: Coverage of the CIF-SS football semifinals

It's the semifinal round of the CIF-SS high school football playoffs, highlighted by a rivalry showdown in the Conejo Valley. There are three games involving area teams on Friday night — Division 3: St. Bonaventure at San Juan Hills; Division 5: Thousand Oaks at Newbury Park; and Division 6: Huntington Beach at Simi Valley.

Seraphs to host Div. 3 final

St. Bonaventure will host Warren, which defeated Chaminade 36-35 in overtime, in the Division 3 championship game next Friday.

Pioneers to hit road for Div. 6 final

After two straight playoff wins at home, Simi Valley will play on the road for Division 6 title game. Will play at Mira Costa, which beat Murrieta Mesa 34-24, next Friday.

Panthers to host Div. 5 final

Newbury Park gets to stay at home for Division 5 title game next Friday. Will play Orange Vista, which beat Anaheim-Western 63-46.

Three times the fun

Ventura County has three teams who will play for CIF-SS football championships next Friday: St. Bonaventure (Div. 3), Newbury Park (Div. 5) and Simi Valley (Div. 6).

Panthers beat Lancers, reach Div. 5 final

Newbury Park stops Thousand Oaks on its final drive. The Panthers beat rival Lancers 22-19 at home to advance to the CIF-SS Division 5 championship game.

Simi Valley to play for Div. 6 title

Simi Valley advances to CIF-SS Division 6 championship game, beating Huntington Beach 32-29 with last-minute drive and last-second TD. Jesse Sereno scored on QB sneak from 1-yard line.

Panthers take lead

McKinney’s 9-yard TD run gives Newbury Park the lead over Thousand Oaks with 3:53 left. Blake Bryce pulls in conversion pass to make it 22-19.

Big 4th-down play for Panthers

Newbury Park driving late in 4th quarter, convert fourth-down play. Trail Thousand Oaks 19-14.

Simi needs final drive

Huntington Beach takes 29-24 lead over host Simi Valley with 1:41 left in game.

St. Bonaventure ties San Juan Hills 13-13 with 8:56 left in game. Franco's 2-yard TD makes it 13-13.

Lancers grab first lead

Brolin Harrah's 4-yard rushing TD gives Thousand Oaks its first lead of the game. 2-point try fails but Lancers now up 19-14 over Newbury Park with 1:24 left in third quarter.

Huntington Beach responds

Huntington Beach scores on 29-yard TD pass just minutes after Simi Valley scored to cut Pioneers' lead to 17-15 with 5:56 left in 3rd quarter.

After failed onside kick by Huntington Beach, Simi Valley takes advantage of the short field as Brice Hawkins finishes drive with a 2-yard TD run to give Pioneers 17-8 lead with 8:09 left in the third quarter,

Seraphs now trail by 7

San Juan Hills adds a 26-yard FG to open second half to increase its lead over visiting St. Bonaventure to 13-6 with 6:44 left in third quarter of Division 5 semifinal.

Lancers score again, miss PAT

Scott Mahannah loves playing at Newbury Park. His 80-yard catch and run pulls Thousand Oaks within 14-13. PAT fails. 11:34 left in 3rd quarter.

Simi finally allows score

After not allowing a point over its last six quarters, Simi Valley finally concedes a score to start the second half. Huntington Beach connects on 54-yard TD pass then goes for 2-point conversion and gets it to cut Simi's lead to 10-8 in Division 6 semifinal.

It's officially pouring at Newbury Park-Thousand Oaks game. Should be interesting second half. Panthers lead 14-7.

Jack Reed hits 30-yard field goal as Simi Valley with 5.5 second left in half as take Pioneers 10-0 lead over Huntington Beach into halftime of Division 6 semifinal. Pioneers defense has been stout all postseason.

Thousand Oaks scores first TD of the game, Taylor to Kemp, to cut Newbury Park's lead to 14-7 with 4:39 left in second quarter.

Silas Kemp makes a defender miss in a phone booth and takes it 37 yards for TD. But the score comes back for an illegal shift. Huge break for Newbury Park, which keeps 7-0 lead.

After Thousand Oaks goes three and out on its first possession, Silas Kemp’s punt pushes Newbury Park to its 15. Lancers then force Panthers three and out with sack.
