Listen Now! Women's World champion 'Timeless' Toni Storm, AEW return to Jacksonville

Her accent is charming. But the words that come out of her mouth don’t always align.

“Timeless” Toni Storm is the AEW Women’s World champion, something she plans to hang onto for the foreseeable future.

But she’s got some big matches coming up that will certainly be a challenge to her title reign.

Storm and the rest of the AEW roster will be returning to the company’s home base of Jacksonville on April 24 and 27 for Dynamite, Collision and Rampage.

That’s just days after AEW’s big Dynasty pay-per-view in St. Louis on April 21.

Storm will face veteran Thunder Rosa at the pay-per-view, but the “Timeless” one has no doubt she’ll be coming to the First Coast with the championship gold in tow.

“Jacksonville and Daily’s Place, it is the heart and soul of AEW. It's going to be a very exciting atmosphere,” Storm said. “Thunder Rosa might not be making it back to Jacksonville at all. So I would like to apologize to all her fans, but then I realized, she doesn’t have any, so we’re OK.”

Did I mention she’s really good at trash talking and not short on confidence?

Storm is the latest guest on “The *State* of Florida Sports Podcast,” powered by the USA Today Network.

She gives a fun and fast-paced interview that shows off her character in all its glory.

Late in 2023 Storm underwent a change after losing the world title.

She shed her previous persona of a heavy metal fan and took on a different look — one of a Golden-era film star ready to bring class back to the AEW Women’s title scene.

It worked.

In November, she regained her title and has held it since.

“Once upon a time, I was a very, very big Mötley Crüe fan, and now I do prefer more the likes of Beethoven, but nonetheless, I am still a big glam metal fan,” she said. “But you know, it's more in the past now. That was something I got into during my party days.”

Party time is definitely over. It’s all business for the AWE champion. Her podcast interview touches on her past, becoming a wrestling fan at age 10 in Australia, and how she left home to train in England at age 18.

Her story is fascinating, and her answers were as fun as anyone we’ve had on the podcast.

For example: when I asked her, as a record tying three-time champ, if she were to lose the belt, wouldn’t she want to regain it to claim the record as a four-time champion?

“(Setting the record) would be the only silver lining, but I'm not too worried about it because I don't think that I'm going to be losing.”

As stated before, when you hear it said in her accent, it only adds to the grandeur.
