List: Shore Conference basketball alums playing Division I women's college basketball
It's up to former St. Rose High School basketball star Brynn Farrell to provide veteran leadership on her second college team in her second league.
Farrell is one of Providence College's only two seniors.
Her goal? “To win,” Farrell said. “To go to the tournament, to go top five in the Big East, and just win some games.”
Farrell is among 45 Shore Conference alums currently rostered with Division I women's college basketball teams. The 2023-24 season kicks off tonight.

Farrell started in 31 games in her first season at Providence during 2022-23, averaging 6.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists and leading the Friars with 41 three-point field goals. She played two seasons at the University of Florida before transferring.
Providence has seven juniors, five freshmen, and a sophomore.
“They’re really good,” Farrell said after scoring three points during 15 minutes in a home exhibition game victory over New Haven last week. “I think we have a really experienced team. I know we have a lot of juniors, but the freshmen show up every single day, put in work, they’re always in the gym shooting, I give them a lot of credit. They’re even helping me on the plays that I don’t know.”
Farrell said she's still adjusting to the Big East after the move from the Southeastern Conference.
“Here (it’s) more so you have to know all five guards,” she said. “I think playing in the SEC it’s more like one-on-one and here you have to know every single person and a lot of team play.”
