List: 2023 Mitchell-area all-conference high school football selections

Nov. 20—MITCHELL — For their outstanding seasons during the fall, area high school football players were recognized by their local conferences.

A summary of all the area players selected are listed below, sorted by conference:

Class 9AA champion Parkston had a conference-leading seven players named to the all-Missouri Valley Conference team, including six seniors. Brayden Jervik, Luke Bormann, Will Jodozi, Brody Boettcher, Maddux Brissette and Jaron Nesheim were all named to the all-conference team. In addition, junior Kolter Kramer was named to the team as well.

Platte-Geddes had six selections to the all-conference team this season, which featured an all-senior group led by Joey Foxley. Skyler Hanten, Kasen Konstanz, Jack Ringling, Caden Oberbroekling and Parker Bailey were also selected, as they helped lead the Black Panthers to the Class 9AA semifinals.

Four seniors were named to the team from Bon Homme. Jackson Caba, Landon Bares, Jacob Cuka and Easton Mudder earned all-conference honors, as the Cavaliers made the Class 9AA playoffs. Junior Landon Schmidt also was named to the all-conference team.

Gregory had four players receive all-conference honors, including seniors Rylan Peck, Kade Braun and Nathan Fortuna along with junior Luke Stukel. Seniors Blake Leiferman and Lantz Bass earned recognition representing Kimball/White Lake, as juniors Iden Myers, Lucas Lenz and Graden Holan also made the team for the Wildkats.

Both Howard and Hanson landed seven players each on the all-Cornbelt Conference team. Howard, who made it to the Class 9AA title game, had seniors Taiden Hoyer, Jackson Remmers, Karsyn Feldhaus and junior Calvin Halverson selected on offense. Senior Kade Grocott and juniors Luke Koepsell and Tate Miller, earned all-conference honors for their work on defense for the Tigers.

Hanson, who made it to the Class 9AA quarterfinals, led all teams with six selections on the defensive side, led by senior Brock Tuttle, who was named conference MVP. Senior Hayden Schroeder, juniors Sutton Dewald and Camden Warnke, along with sophomores Carter Endorf and Stetson Riggs, were the Beavers' other representatives on defense. Junior Weston Kayser was the Beavers' lone player on offense to be selected to the all-conference team.

Canistota matched Howard's team-high four offensive selections, as seniors Tage Ortman and Ty Doblar, and juniors Jaden Kleinsasser and Brady Scott represented the Class 9A semifinalist Hawks. On defense, senior Brandon Kjetland and junior Levi Schroeder were named to the team.

Class 9B state champion Avon had three Pirates selected to the all-Great Plains Conference honor squad. Junior Aziah Meyer, who won the Joe Robbie MVP and most outstanding back award in the state title game, along with seniors Terran Talsma and Paxton Bierema.

Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy led all teams in the conference with four selections, headlined by seniors Rocky Ammann and Evan Scharberg. Junior Dominic Sperling and sophomore Karter Weber were also all-conference selections for the Phoenix, who reached the quarterfinal round of the Class 9AA playoffs.

Corsica-Stickney received contributions from three players who were named to all-conference. Senior Carter Wright was named to the team, along with junior Tate Tolsma and sophomore Waylon Bolle.

Other Mitchell-area players named to the team are juniors Gentry Bartling and Kaleb Schonebaum from Burke, along with junior Eli Vobr and sophomore Seth Heath from Colome.

Class 11B semifinalist Winner had five players named to the all-Southeast South Dakota Conference team in Stratton Morehart, Jude Sargent, Spencer Calhoun, Noah Best and Karson Keiser.

Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central also had five representatives named to the team, led by Holden Havlik. Ryder Michalek, Caleb Kneen, Blake Larson and Brock Krueger also received conference recognition, helping to lead the Blackhawks into the Class 11B playoffs.

Wagner's Jhett Breen, Gannon Knebel, Parket Petry, Braxton Knutson and Bain Kuhlman earned all-conference honors for helping the Red Raiders make it to the Class 11B playoffs. Tripp-Delmont/Armour/Andes Central/Dakota Christian had four players selected to the all-conference team: Payton Westendorf, Dalton Westendorf, Hunter Loeffler and Riley Spaans.

After guiding Chamberlain to its first playoff berth since moving back to Class 11A in 2021, Cruz Soulek was one of three Cubs given all-conference honors, along with Canyon Burkard and Levi Miller were also selected. Mount Vernon/Plankinton's Brady Fox, Zach Baker and Isaiah Olson also made the honor team.
