NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are digital collectibles that have been verified on the blockchain (aka the same technology used to record cryptocurrency transactions). NFT supporters say that they give artists a new way to monetize their work and can also hold value as investment pieces. But the anti-NFT crowd has voiced concerns about the environmental impact of the blockchain, which uses a tremendous amount of energy.
