Leonard locks on to women's crown; Play for Burk draws big number

Janelle Leonard brought her ‘A’ game and went to the head of the class at last week’s 2023 Dink;s Bartlesville Ladies City Championship.

Leonard whittled off a gross score of 179 (84-95) to win the overall championship.

Darian Kedy ruled the net division by carving out 148 (71-77).

Atop the Championship Flight (net) leaderboard were Sandy Kent (73-77—150) and Kathy Brown (78-78—156).

Leading the First Flight (net) were Sue Layton (81-76—157) and Te’Angela Tate (79-81—160).

PLAY FOR BURK CLASSIC

Toward mid-May, Adams Golf Course attracted a deep, eclectic field of participants for a heartfelt cause — to raise money for charity in memory of Burkley McKay Hansen, a 13-year-old Bartlesville boy who died in 2015 in an ATV accident.

Topping the Championship Flight was the foursome of Taylor Richey, Jason Sauer, Justin Waller and Dan Johnson (44). John Watson, Ryan Rogers, Kolby Williams and Aaron Upshaw followed with 46.

Two foursomes tied with 47 — Mike Waldmor, Josh Grace, Chris Laruffo and Tyler Andress; and John Whitworth, Dean Lowe, Tanner John and Eric Evans.

Coming in alone at 50 was the combo of Scott Carmichael, Kevin Trease, T.J. Dickinson and Kenny Green.

Combining to shoot 51 was the quartet of Chuck McCauley, Craig Wasemiller, Thad Dilbeck and Terry Hughes.

Grabbing first place in the A Flight, with a score of 55, was the team of Cameron Goscha, Matt Mitchell, Chase Carver and Levi Craig.

The second place unit of Tommy Leathers, Trent Meyer, Kyle Krotzer and Preston Long also recorded 55.

Rounding out the top three in the A Flight, with 57, was the group of Jay Claeys, Troy Trimble, Brad Bruno and Jordan Boerio.

There was a second session of the tourney that also featured a large field.

SECOND FLIGHT: 1-Mathew Smith, Jordan Dodson, John Bechtelheimer, Benjie Lewis (51); 2-Kevin Lynch, Gary Lorenz, Thad Kent, Brad Bruno (52); 3-Ben Rainey, Jordan Boerio, Rick Stephens, Keith Fletcher (53); 4-Kim Smith, Dustin Smith, Makenna Smith, Devin Creek (55); 5-Jason Hardy, Andrew Dodson, Brian Moser, Matt Wilson (55).

ADAMS SET JUNIOR TRAINING DATES

Adams is offering a free junior clinic (ages 6 through 17), from June 6-8 at the golf course.

The clinic times from be 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

About a week later, the golf course will put on a paid camp (June 12-15) for the same age group. The camp times will be the same.
