Denny Crum died on May 9 at the age of 86.

As a coach at the University of Louisville, he helped the Cardinals win two NCAA championships while making it to six Final Fours. Prior to that, Crum served as an assistant at UCLA under John Wooden, where he was part of three other titles.

Kentucky coach John Calipari offered his condolences: “Denny Crum was truly a Hall of Famer. He was kind, had a great sense of humor but make no mistake about it, he was a competitor who wanted to win every game. My heart goes out to Susan and his family and friends. We lost another legend in our state today. Rest in peace, my friend.”
