LeBron James discusses Frank Vogel’s job security with Lakers

After losing to the Indiana Pacers Wednesday, the Los Angeles Lakers circled back to another head-scratching position.

The Lakers just can’t get over the .500 mark and are 22-23 on the season, which is unfortunate considering L.A. beat the Utah Jazz in impressive fashion.

But with the inconsistent play persisting, head coach Frank Vogel’s seat continues to get warmer, especially after the Indiana defeat. After the game, LeBron James spoke on Vogel and the coaching staff.

“Coaching staff has been great,” James said. “They’ve put us in position to succeed, and it’s up to us to buy in and handle business. There’s always things that we all can do better, but there’s no blame.

“Listen, I’m not in the business of pointing fingers or pointing blame or trying to put a quote at the end or at the start of someone’s commentary of what they feel about our coaching staff or what Frank is or what Russ is or what I am or AD. If it’s not positive for me, I’m cool. It’s not my lane. I’m not a negative person.”

The Lakers have played without Anthony Davis since Dec. 17, but that’s reportedly not a factor in Vogel’s job security because the front office believes the team can play better.

Los Angeles now begins a six-game road trip against Eastern Conference opponents. If nothing changes for the Lakers’ win percentage, a change could happen at head coach.
