Lady Vols defeat Miami, remain unbeaten

Two first-half goals propelled the Lady Vols to victory Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Vols notched a 2-0 victory over Miami (Ohio) before a crowd of 500 fans at Regal Soccer Stadium.

Tennessee (2-0) has now earned shutout victories in their first two matches. The Lady Vols opened the 2021 campaign with a 6-0 win over Florida Gulf Coast in Knoxville on Thursday.

Jordan Fusco gave Tennessee a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 33rd minute. Maria Nelson and Abbey Burdette were each credited with an assist on the game’s first marker.

Brooke Wilson extended the Lady Vols’ advantage to 2-0 in the 39th minute. Hannah Zaluski recorded an assist on Wilson’s goal.

Tennessee goalkeeper Lindsey Romig recorded two saves against Miami (0-2) en route to earning her second consecutive clean sheet of the season.

The Lady Vols return to action Thursday, playing at Tennessee Tech.

Kickoff against the Golden Eagles is slated for 8 p.m. EDT.
