Kyler Murray shoulders the blame in loss to Lions

It was a rough afternoon for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. He had 270 passing yards and two touchdown passes, and he also ran for another touchdown. However, he also was picked off three times.

It was the first time in his career he threw three interceptions in a game.

And while last week he asked receiver DeAndre Hopkins to take the blame for the one pick he threw in Week 2, Murray didn’t place blame on anyone else but himself for the plays and the loss.

“Obviously, I feel like if I don’t turn the ball over three times today, we put ourselves in a better position to win that game.,” he told reporters after the game.

He said it was frustrating to watch the end of the game and see the Lions kick a game-winning field goal. He felt like they had plenty of opportunities to put the game away.

He said they “just let it slip away.”

The young quarterback feels like it is his fault.

“I feel like if I didn’t do what I did today, we win the game.”

He is right. The three turnovers were the difference. The offense moved the ball. The defense overall played as well as you can expect. They just couldn’t finish.

Murray has moved on, but, being the leader he is, it is how you want to see a young quarterback react.

He knows he made mistakes and knows the Cardinals should have won.

Now he just needs to take this experience and turn it into improvement for the weeks to come. They now hit the road for three straight games.

If he is progressing the way we all hope he is, he will be better against Carolina in Week 4.
