As Kentucky’s high school soccer season kicks off Monday, we take a look at 11 of the top girls from the Louisville area to watch this season.
Players are listed alphabetically.
Nikki Burba, Mercy
Year: Senior
2022 stats: Midfielder posted 14 goals and seven assists last season and earned honorable-mention All-State honors.
Breanna Dardano, South Oldham
Year: Senior
2022 stats: Defender/midfielder tallied two goals and seven assists last season and was named MVP of the state tournament after helping the Dragons win the title.
Katie Feeney, South Oldham
Year: Senior
2022 stats: Goalkeeper allowed seven goals and posted 17 shutouts while leading the Dragons to the state championship. She’s a two-time first-team All-State pick.
A.G. Gibson, Assumption
Year: Senior
2022 stats: Midfielder posted 23 goals and 14 assists to lead the Rockets to their first Seventh Region title since 2012. First-team All-State selection has committed to the University of Louisville.
Sophie Gyimesi, Ballard
Year: Senior
2022 stats: Striker had 24 goals and 10 assists last season on her way to honorable-mention All-State recognition.
Amelia Jones, Manual
Year: Senior
2022 stats: Forward tallied 25 goals and eight assists last season on her way to honorable-mention All-State honors.
Josie McRae, Assumption
Year: Senior
2022 stats: Midfielder had three goals and seven assists while helping the Rockets win the Seventh Region title. She has committed to Eastern Kentucky.
Taylor Morris, Brown
Year: Sophomore
2022 stats: Tallied 60 goals and 14 assists last season, ranking third in the state in goals scored. Morris earned honorable-mention All-State honors.
Emily Paul, Atherton
Year: Senior
2022 stats: Forward/midfielder posted 48 goals and 18 assists on her way to second-team All-State honors. Miami (Ohio) commit ranked 12th in the state in goals scored.
Sara Ritter, Whitefield Academy
Year: Senior
2022 stats: Tallied 67 goals and 27 assists last season, ranking second in the state in goals scored and earning second-team All-State honors.
Christine Very, Sacred Heart
Year: Senior
2022 stats: Midfielder tallied 10 goals and six assists while helping the Valkyries to a 20-4 record.
