Knicks unveil Sphere Entertainment jersey patch for 2023-24 NBA season

Knicks fans probably have a negative association with the triangle. The triangle offense was one of the elements that didn’t work well enough during Phil Jackson’s team presidency.

Now, there’s a new shape in town.

Knicks jerseys will be sponsored by Sphere Entertainment this season, Madison Square Garden Sports announced on Tuesday.

The Sphere is a new entertainment venue in Las Vegas. Knicks governor James Dolan is the executive chairman of the company. Dolan is also the executive chairman of MSG Sports.

The Sphere logo will appear on Knicks game jerseys, practice jerseys and warmup shirts this season.

“The MSG family of companies has an unrivaled portfolio of premium assets, and we are committed to ensuring that the strength of our brands and unique global reach continue to benefit one another in powerful ways,” David Hopkinson, president and COO of MSG Sports, said. “This pairing brings together two globally-recognized brands – a revolutionary new venue that is literally changing the way people experience live entertainment, and one of the most recognized franchises in professional sports – to create an innovative partnership at the intersection of sports and entertainment.”

The NBA permitted jersey patch sponsorships beginning in the 2017-18 season. The Knicks’ previous sponsor was Squarespace.

The amount of money Sphere Co. paid for the jersey sponsor is unknown.

The Sphere is an eye-catching structure in Las Vegas. It’s 366 feet tall and 516 feet wide with a surface area of more than 580,000 square feet. The company says the venue features cutting-edge technologies that provide a unique experience for concert goers.

The Knicks will wear the jersey on opening night against the Boston Celtics.
