Knicks' OG Anunoby ruled out of Game 3 of series with Pacers with hamstring strain
NEW YORK -- Knicks forward and former Indiana University star OG Anunoby will miss Game 3 of New York's Eastern Conference semifinals series with the Pacers after suffering a hamstring strain in the second half of Game 2 on Wednesday, according to the NBA's official injury report.
Anunoby, who led the NBA in steals and earned a spot on the All-Defensive team in 2022-23, has made a huge impact on both ends for the Knicks since he was acquired in December in a trade with the Raptors. He missed extensive time due to elbow surgery, but the Knicks were 20-3 in games he appeared in in the regular season as he averaged 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game in those games, shooting 48.8% from the floor and 39.4% from 3-point range.
Anunoby averaged 16.8 points per game in the Knicks first-round series win over the 76ers. He posted 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists in the Knicks' Game 1 win and scored 28 points in 28 minutes in Game 2 before his injury.
The injury will likely mean more time for forward Precious Achiuwa, who played 28 minutes in Game 2. It could also force the Knicks to dig deeper into their bench after using an extremely short rotation so far in the playoffs.
