Knappa continues their winning streak

The Knappa High School Loggers baseball team continued their winning streak with a pair of Friday afternoon victories.

Knappa completed a three-game sweep of Gaston to extend their winning streak to nine games. Their league record remains perfect.

Game one saw the Loggers win 14-0 in five innings behind big bats and Jaxon Dietrichs’ near perfect game.

Dietrichs retired all thirteen batters he faced, striking out ten. He was one batter short of a perfect game, but was pulled for Raymond Ramirez to get the last out of the game. Treven Moreland and Gavin Barendse combined for five of the fourteen RBIs, while Kutter Ball reached base all four times he was up to bat.

During game two, the Loggers won 6-4. Oliver Stevens started, and went 4 1/3 innings, striking out eight and allowing just four base runners.

The Loggers took a 6-0 lead into the seventh inning. They got a bit of a scare, as Gaston scored four runs.

Knappa softball knocks out Gaston

Knappa softball brought out the thunder in their two games against Gaston on Friday. The Knappa Loggers outscored the Gaston Greyhounds 24-3 during Friday’s action.

Game one saw the Loggers win 13-2. Lily Simpson, Kiya Roe and Aubrey Rusinovich combined for nine of the 16 hits by the Loggers. On the mound, Taylor Pass allowed just three hits and struck out seven in her five innings of work.

Game two was another five inning game, but this time it was the Loggers walking it off in the bottom of the fifth.

Knappa once again had double-digit hits. Pass pitched again and only allowed two base runners in the outing.

With the victory, Knappa keeps pace with the other top teams in their league.

Warriors baseball puts on home run derby

Warrenton High School baseball must have decided to put on a home run derby without telling anyone. The Warrenton Warriors hit five home runs Friday afternoon against Hoquiam High School in a non-league game.

The Warriors took a break from league competition to beat up on the school from Washington state. Kaison Smith and Tyson McGrorty had two home runs, while Brayden Greenawald added one of his own.

Behind the pitching of Cam’Ron Daniels and Smith, Warrenton defeated Hoquiam 11-1.

Warrenton softball outlasted by Banks

Banks and Warrenton softball played a doubleheader on Friday. Banks won the first game 11-6, and the second game 12-5.

Game one was a back-and-forth contest that took until the seventh inning for any team to get separation.

Warrenton took an early 3-0 lead, only to see Banks tie the game up in the top of the fifth inning. Banks would score eight runs over the last two innings to pull away for an the victory.

Game two saw Banks pitcher Sydney Phillips hit a home run and pitch a complete game.

Banks jumped out to a 6-2 lead after two innings, and the team didn’t look back from there. Though the Warrenton Warriors tried to rally after KiKi Olson hit a home run, the Banks Braves had 17 hits and took advantage of four Warrenton errors in the victory.

Seaside baseball loses low-scoring contest

Friday night at Broadway Field was a pitcher’s duel between Seaside and Parkrose High School.

Seaside’s Hayden Halsen gave up just one earned run on four hits, but Seaside could only muster five hits against very good pitching from Parkrose.
