Killingly's Seiffert leads Bulletin Golf All Star Team

The Bulletin is proud to present its 2023 Golf All Star Team. The honored players were consistently on our daily top performers lists during the regular season. The players were selected from Norwich Free Academy, Griswold, Plainfield, Killingly, Norwich Tech and Ellis Tech.

This year’s team is led by Killingly senior Cameron Seiffert, our Golf Player of the Year.

Norwich Free Academy had another winning season under the guidance of head coach Bill Howard. The Wildcats placed fifth at the ECC Open championship and finished 12th at the CIAC Division I state tournament championship.

Killingly captured its third straight ECC tournament championship and ninth in 10 years under head coach Kevin Marcoux. Killingly was also the runner up at the CIAC Division II state tournament championship.

Griswold showed improvement during another rebuilding season under longtime head coach Paul Richards. The Wolverines finished 10th at the ECC Open championship.

Plainfield had a .500 season under the guidance of head coach David Willis. The Panthers finished 14th at the ECC Open championship.

Player of the Year - Cameron Seiffert

The Killingly senior shot a 74 to tie for fourth place at the State Open. Seiffert, a consistent medalist during the regular season, shot a 76 to lead Killingly to a runner-up finish at the annual Wildcat Invitational at Norwich Golf Course. Killingly clinched their 10th straight ECC Divisional Championship. Seiffert finished 10th with an 84 to help Killingly win its third straight ECC Open championship. He also shot a 79 to lift Killingly to a second place finish at the CIAC Division II state tournament championship. He made All-State by tying for 11th place.

Boys All Stars

Matt Card, Senior, Killingly: Card tied for second with a 75 to help Killingly win its third straight ECC Open championship. He helped Killingly to a second place finish at the CIAC Division II state tournament championship. He also shot an 87 to finish 23rd at the State Open.

Logan Gagnon, Senior, Killingly:  Gagnon led Killingly with a 76 and earned all-state honors by tying for fourth place while helping Killingly finish second at the CIAC Division II state tournament championship. He placed seventh with a round of 80 to help Killingly win its third straight ECC Open championship. He tied for 26th at the State Open.

Lavado Gennaro, Sophomore, Griswold: A consistent medalist for the Wolverines during the regular season, Lavado shot an 86 to lead Griswold to 10th place at the ECC Open championship.

Harrison Giambattista, Senior, Killingly: Giambattista, the defending ECC champion, placed fourth with a 76 to help Killingly win its third straight ECC Open championship. He shot 82 (tied 19th) to help Killingly to a second-place finish at the CIAC Division II state tournament championship. He also finished 29th at the State Open.

Costa Kapilotis, Senior, Norwich Free Academy: A consistent top scorer during the regular season, Kapilotis shot 87 to help the Wildcats place fifth at the ECC Open championship. He shot 90 (tied 51st) at the CIAC Division I state tournament championship to lead NFA to 12th place.

Ethan Lackner, Senior, Killingly: Lackner shot a 72 to win the ECC Open individual championship. He is the eighth player in Killingly program history to win the ECC title. He shot 81 (tied 17th) to help Killingly to a second-place finish at the CIAC Division II state tournament championship. He also tied for 26th at the State Open.

Josh Lavender, Senior, Norwich Tech: A consistent medalist for the Warriors during the regular season, Lavender helped Norwich Tech finish 10th at the CIAC Division II state tournament championship.

Jarrett Towne, Junior, Ellis Tech: A consistent medalist for the Golden Eagles, who went 15-3 during the regular season.

Max Weston, Junior, Norwich Free Academy:  A consistent top scorer during the regular season, Weston shot 80 (sixth place) to help the Wildcats place fifth at the ECC Open championship. He shot 82 (tied 25th) at the CIAC Division I state tournament championship to lead NFA to 12th place.

Nick Wigfield, Sophomore, Norwich Free Academy:  A consistent top scorer during the regular season, Wigfield shot 89 to help the Wildcats place fifth at the ECC Open championship. He shot 85 (tied 35th) at the CIAC Division I state tournament championship to lead NFA to 12th place.

Colin Williams, Sophomore, Plainfield:  A consistent medalist for the Panthers during the regular season, Williams shot an 89 to lead Plainfield to 14th place at the ECC Open championship.

Honorable Mention: Chris Cabral, Senior, Ellis Tech; Cole Esposito, Senior, Plainfield; Jack Gahrman, Junior, Norwich Tech; John Howe, Senior, Norwich Free Academy; Josh James, Senior, Norwich Tech; Brody Langlois, Senior, Plainfield; Tommy Mattson, Senior, Griswold; Liam O’Neill, Junior, Norwich Free Academy.

Girls All Stars

Caroline Goderre, Freshman, Norwich Free Academy: Goderre shot an 86 to tie for ninth place at the CIAC Division I state championships. Consistent medalist shot in the lower 40s during multiple matches to lead the Wildcats to a second straight winning season. Goderre shot a 50 to earn medalist honors and lead NFA to the championship at the annual Wildcat Invitational.

Mackenzie Pothier, Freshman, Killingly: Pothier shot a 42 to win the ECC Open individual championship at Connecticut National in Putnam.

Honorable Mention: Kaydance Arpin, Senior, Norwich Free Academy; Erin O’Farrell, Sophomore, Norwich Free Academy; Kendra St. Marie, Sophomore, Killingly; Madeline Smith, Junior, Norwich Free Academy.
