Key Georgia football defensive player sidelined in first quarter

Georgia football safety Javon Bullard headed to the locker room with trainers before the end of the first quarter of Saturday's game with Ball State.

Bullard made a third-down tackle in the first quarter and came up limping just a tad.

Georgia said he has an ankle injury and is "out for now."

He was spotted on the sideline of Sanford Stadium in the second half with his left foot in a boot.

Junior David Daniel-Sisavanh entered the game for Bullard on defense.

Georgia and Ball State were tied at 0 entering the second quarter.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Bullard, the defensive MVP of both the national championship game and Peach Bowl, moved from nickel back to safety this offseason.

He had four tackles in the season opener and 46 last season with 3 1/2 sacks.
