Karsten Swinney becomes Freedom Christian's first 1,000-point scorer in school history
There's been another 1,000-point milestone in the Fayetteville area this week. This time, it's Freedom Christian's Karsten Swinney.
On Tuesday, Dec. 12, the junior guard reached the milestone in a 26-point effort at Berean Baptist, despite his team falling to the Bulldogs 71-65. On Friday, before a home contest against Grace Christian, Swinney was presented with his 1,000-point ball and certificate.
Swinney wasn't aware he reached the milestone until after Tuesday's game when he was informed by his coaching staff.
"I'm just super grateful and without God I know this achievement wouldn't be possible, so I give Him all the praise and glory," Swinney said.

He also credits his parents and trainer for helping him develop his game throughout his childhood.
"Without them, none of this is possible," Swinney said.
Swinney is the first 1,000-point scorer in Freedom Christian school history.

"I'm extremely proud of Karsten's accomplishment," coach Rashawn Quinzy said. "I'm blessed to coach a young man that is this respectful, humble, and smart with a high IQ. Any college coach would increase team productivity with him on their roster."
Swinney nearly notched a triple-double in a monstrous 100-58 win against HA Prep on Dec. 5. Swinney tallied 50 points, hitting eight 3-pointers — both school records — along with eight rebounds and eight assists on the night, landing his spot on the 910Preps top performers list, and bumping his season average up to 28 points per game.

However, Swinney still desires to raise his game going forward.
"I believe I can still elevate my game. I can elevate my team by becoming a better leader and continuing to strengthen my skillset as my career progresses," Swinney said.
