LAWRENCE — Kyle Cuffe Jr.’s run with the Kansas men’s basketball program will end after two seasons.

A KU official confirmed Wednesday that Cuffe, a redshirt freshman guard this past season, has entered the transfer portal. Cuffe’s decision comes more than a month after the end of a season that ended in the round of 32 of the NCAA tournament. And his departure means there are now six players who were on the Jayhawks’ roster during the 2022-23 campaign who have decided to transfer away.

Cuffe follows sophomore guard Bobby Pettiford Jr., junior guard Joseph Yesufu, freshman guard MJ Rice, sophomore forward Zach Clemence and super-senior forward Cam Martin. All five of them have already committed to another program. Cuffe is the latest to look for a new home.

Cuffe wasn’t able to earn much of a role during his two seasons in Lawerence, redshirting the first before an injury led to a decision to pursue a medical redshirt for the second. The former 247Sports Composite four-star prospect appeared in just two games during his Kansas career. Given the high school prospects joining the Jayhawks ahead of the 2023-24 campaign and the transfers head coach Bill Self and the coaching staff are bringing in, his path to significant playing time wasn’t going to get any easier next season.
