Kansas City sets date, time for Chiefs 2024 Super Bowl parade, rally

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Chiefs are back-to-back Super Bowl champions after winning Super Bowl LVIII vs the San Francisco 49ers, and now it’s time to start planning for a victory parade and rally.

Kansas City leaders have confirmed to FOX4 the parade is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday.

How to watch the Kansas City Chiefs 2024 Super Bowl parade from home

The parade route will start at 6th Street and Grand Boulevard, and the Chiefs will head south on Grand toward Union Station.

Here’s the official 2024 parade route:

The rally is scheduled to begin at approximately 12:45 p.m. in front of Union Station and the National WWI Museum and Memorial north lawn. It should last about one hour.

The weather should be much nicer Wednesday than it was for past Super Bowl parades in Kansas City, which will likely lead to larger crowds.

Road closures

Several roads will be closed, starting as early as Monday, as crews start preparing for the parade and rally.

Pershing Road, from Main Street to Kessler Road, will be closed beginning Monday as part of preps at Union Station for the rally.

Then road closures along the parade route will start at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The streets east and west of Grand Boulevard will be closed between Walnut & McGee from 6th Street on the north to Pershing Road on the south.

Main Street, from 20th Street to Pershing Road, will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians on Wednesday. Main Street from Pershing to 27th will be closed to vehicles but open to pedestrians. There will be additional closures on Main Street from 27th to 31st streets when the parade starts.

Union Station will be closed to the public starting at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday and reopen at about 4 p.m. Wednesday after the rally.

Drivers will be allowed to cross at the following spots until 8 a.m. Wednesday:

  • 7th Street/Admiral Boulevard

  • Truman Road North and South

  • 18th Street

  • 12th Street (until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday)

  • 13th Street (until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday)

Pedestrians will be cross the parade route at the following spots:

  • 9th Street

  • 13th Street

  • Truman Road

  • 18th Street

  • 20th Street

Still, organizers stress there will be significant travel delays around the parade route and Union Station, and drivers should avoid the area.

Free park-and-ride shuttles

KCATA’s free shuttles will run from 7-10:30 a.m. and again from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Buses will drop off and pick-up at Hy-Vee Arena, where passengers will transfer to Ride KC buses heading to 18th and Troost.

Riders must return to the drop-off location for their specific shuttle to get back to their vehicle. Prepare for possible wait times, as much as 45 minutes, at park-and-ride locations.

KC Streetcar

The KC Streetcar will still operate at all stops — except Union Station — on Wednesday.

That morning, riders must exit the streetcar at the southbound Crossroads stop, and northbound riders can board at the Crossroads stop as well.

The Union Station stop will close to passengers at the end of regular service Tuesday.

How to watch the Kansas City Chiefs 2024 Super Bowl parade from home

KC Streetcar service will start at its regular 6 a.m. scheduled time and run at 10-12 minute frequencies until 10:30 a.m. Then the streetcar will be temporarily suspended until the end of the Super Bowl parade and rally.

Streetcar service will resume once the tracks are clear at 20th Street and Pershing Road.

Parking

There will be parking restrictions along the parade route that go into effect at 11 a.m. Tuesday, when the parade route closes to traffic, and continue until Wednesday night.

Cars parked in temporary no parking zones will be towed at the owner’s expense, according to the city. Drivers also should not park on the interstate and will be towed if they do.

Anyone who’s vehicle is towed can call 816-513-0688 to find the location.

Most parking lots around the parade route will charge, including the National WWI Museum and Memorial, Union Station and Crown Center. Fans should check with those organizations for more details.

Reunification sites

Police and parade organizers are urging parents to make a plan and set a meetup location in case they become separated from their children.

Make sure kids have contact information for their parents or guardians with them. Officials even recommend parents take a photo of their children in case they need to identify what they’re wearing and look like.

Any parents who becomes separated from their children should locate a police officer. There will be hundreds of officers from over 30 agencies along the parade route, KCPD said.

Any missing people or children will be taken to one of seven reunification sites:

  • UMB Bank at 928 Grand Blvd.

  • KCPD Headquarters at 1125 Locust St.

  • T-Mobile Center Concourse at 14th & Grand

  • Resurrection Downtown at 1601 Grand Blvd.

  • UMB Bank at 1800 Grand Blvd.

  • Blue Cross & Blue Shield, west entrance at 2301 Main St.

  • Lunchland, third floor of Crown Center at 2475 Grand Blvd.
