Kansas City-area schools cancel for Chiefs 2024 Super Bowl parade
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Now that the Kansas City Chiefs are back-to-back Super Bowl champions, the Kingdom is preparing for another parade.
For Kansas City-area school districts, that means many are once again planning to cancel classes Wednesday to allow students and staff to join the celebration.

Independence School District and Kansas City Public Schools announced even before the Chiefs won that they would cancel classes for a parade.
But Olathe Public Schools didn’t initially plan to following suit. The district told teachers the plan was to have school Wednesday, pointing to the number of snow days.
Olathe sixth-grader Jordyn Sumner watched the Chiefs win the Super Bowl on Sunday night and all she wanted to do was celebrate Wednesday at the Victory Parade. But Sumner had school — or did she?
“I’m probably going to beg my mom on my knees to not go,” Sumner said, “and then make an escape plan to wake up late and then end up going to the parade.”
