Justin Bieber follows Filip Forsberg on Instagram, but George Kittle still Forsberg's BFF
Filip Forsberg picked up new fan and a new follower on Instagram by the name of Justin Bieber.
But the pop icon's social media move won't be enough for him to overtake Super Bowl-bound San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle on Forsberg's BFF hierarchy.
The Nashville Predators forward spent last weekend palling around a bit with Bieber, who was honorary captain of Forsberg's team at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game in Toronto and who also follows Predators defenseman Tyson Barrie. Kittle, meanwhile, was preparing for Sunday's Super Bowl in Las Vegas against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
"George is No. 1, for sure," Forsberg joked Thursday after Predators' practice at Centennial Sportsplex. "(Bieber) was awesome, but he's got a long way to go to get it."
Forsberg and Kittle met a few years ago through their significant others. Kittle's wife Claire is friends with Forsberg's now-wife Erin Alvey, who is expecting the couple's first child in May.
The two sometimes play video games together and attend each other's games.
Forsberg and Bieber, who has 292 million Instagram followers, met for the first time last weekend when Bieber and Auston Matthews selected Forsberg for their All-Star team, which came with a compliment on Forsberg's mustache from the latter.
Forsberg apparently made a believer out of Bieber.
"Forsberg's a nice guy, huh?" Bieber said to Matthews during a game Saturday.
"Really good guy," Matthews replied. "It's kind of the first time I met him, this weekend . . . really good guy."
"It's good to know you fooled somebody," Forsberg joked Thursday.
Forsberg scored three goals in his team's two games, including the winner in the championship.
Matthews called Forsberg "the steal of the draft."
Forsberg said he is a fan of Bieber's, despite his firm place behind Kittle on the BFF totem pole.
The Predators' all-time leading goal scorer's fun didn't end in Toronto.
He and Alvey spent a couple of days in the Bahamas before the Predators returned to the ice Thursday after the All-Star break and its mandatory break.
The Predators play the Arizona Coyotes at 7 p.m. Saturday at Bridgestone Arena.
