Jose Trevino reaches twice, but Yankees close spring with 8-5 loss to Diablos Rojos
The Yankees closed the spring with a 8-5 loss to Diablos Rojos on Monday night in Mexico City.

- Oswaldo Cabrera, who appears to have cracked the Opening Day roster, got the Yanks offense started in this one as he drew a two-out walk in the first and after stealing second base he scored on a Jose Trevino two-run double.
Aaron Boone told reporters on Monday that he views the 25-year-old as his backup shortstop, but as of now he's also in line to start the year at the hot corner with DJ LeMahieu landing on the injured list due to a significant bone bruise. Cabrera started tonight's game in left field, but he played four innings at shortstop after Anthony Volpe was subbed out following his three at-bats.
- After changing his workout regimen over the offseason and arriving to camp in tremendous shape, Giancarlo Stanton put together a tremendous spring, but he finished a combined 0-for-6 during the final two exhibition games in Mexico City.
- Anthony Volpe was also held hitless on the night, but he showed some really positive signs at the plate heading into his sophomore campaign, hitting .314 with five extra-base hits and a .835 OPS across 51 at-bats.
- Oscar Gonzalez has also been great for the Yanks after being picked up off waivers from the Guardians, but he had to be carted off the field after fouling a pitch off his face in the bottom of the second. The right-handed hitting slugger was reassigned to the minors earlier Monday. After going 1-for-2, he finished camp with six extra-base hits, seven RBI, and a .326 batting average.
- The Yankees' pitching struggled for the most part in this one, but right-hander Dennis Santana put together another strong outing, working out of a first and second with nobody out jam en route to two scoreless innings.
