Jordy Bahl confirms transfer home to Nebraska after two years at Oklahoma

Jordy Bahl has made it official.

The former Oklahoma softball star announced Thursday morning that she is transferring to the University of Nebraska, where she will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Bahl, a native of Papillion, Nebraska, went 44-2 with a 0.99 earned-run average and 397 strikeouts in 288 2/3 innings pitched in two seasons with the Sooners.

Bahl wrapped up her sophomore season by leading the Sooners to their third consecutive Women's College World Series title. She was named most outstanding player after posting a 4-0 record in a 24 2/3 scoreless innings of work.

"After 2 years of wonderful memories, I’m excited for 2 more representing the Nebraska Cornhuskers," Bahl posted on Twitter. "This state, these people, and this N are all things I’m excited, proud, and thankful to be a part of."

The Cornhuskers are coming off a 36-22 season in which they won Big Ten tournament championship and advance to the NCAA Stillwater Regional, losing to host Oklahoma State in the regional final.

"The entire Nebraska softball team is thrilled to have Jordy join the Red Team," Nebraska coach Rhonda Revelle said in a team release. "Jordy is an amazing young woman, teammate and athlete who we know is an incredible addition to our team both on and off the field. "Having known Jordy for several years, we have not been surprised by her accomplishments as she has always been the epitome of a driven, determined and laser-focused competitor. Jordy is a winner on the inside and out, and she uplifts and inspires all who are around her. This is a wonderful day for Husker Nation to welcome back our homegrown Husker Jordy Bahl."

The Nebraska announcement caps a whirlwind week for Bahl, who closed out Oklahoma's win against Florida State in Game 2 of the championship series last Thursday night to clinch the national title at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium.

On Friday, Bahl told the Oklahoma coaching staff "that she has been feeling a strong need to be closer to home for quite some time and that she planned to enter the transfer portal," Sooners coach Patty Gasso said in a statement Monday.

On Saturday, Oklahoma hosted a championship celebration in Norman at Marita Hynes Field.

On Monday, Bahl wrote on Twitter that she had "decided to return home and play the game I love, closer to the things that have made me who I am and that have always been more important to me than this game.”

On Thursday, one week after winning the NCAA championship, Bahl's future was set, back where it all began, home in Nebraska.
