Cincinnati Bengals quarterback grimaced as he squeezed his hand after a touchdown pass to Joe Mixon during the second quarter of the team's NFL Week 11 Thursday Night Football loss to the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium.

But it was a hit from the Ravens' Jadeveon Clowney one play earlier, also a pass Burrow completed to Mixon, that appears to have injured the fourth-year QB.

The Bengals and Burrow confirmed Friday that Burrow has a torn ligament in his wrist, and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Burrow was evaluated in the medical tent after the TD pass, which gave the Bengals a 10-7 lead with Evan McPherson's extra point. Burrow then went to the locker room, and the team announced a right wrist injury. The team initially announced that Burrow's return was questionable, but he was later ruled out.

Burrow returned from the locker room to the sideline during halftime:

Earlier, Burrow tried to throw on the sideline and couldn't. He crouched, and held his head as he winced.

Backup Jake Browning warmed up on the sideline as Burrow headed to the locker room. Browning completed his first pass of the game to Trenton Irwin, for 12 yards, and later threw his first NFL touchdown pass to Ja'Marr Chase.

"Ooh, Joe, take a look at that," Prime Video play-by-play announcer Al Michaels said as a replay of Burrow was shown. "There was a screengrab. The Bengals took the screengrab down, but enough people saw it today. When they got off the plane, he had some sort of a device on his right hand? Looked like a sleeve or whatever, something was going on. They took it down. But clearly you've got some sort of an issue here, and we'll get to the bottom of it. ... Here's Burrow shaking his head after trying to throw on the sideline. You can tell there's a problem. Big one. ... That screengrab that you saw earlier today? It was nothing? It was something."

"And then the hit by Clowney on top of that," analyst Kirk Herbstreit added. "And then you have how hard he's worked to get back, with the calf (injury). I think that's why there's so much frustration and anger here from Joe Burrow. And you can't blame him. Think about that injury in camp and the first four weeks of the season really not able to be himself. And just starting to become the Joe Burrow ... that he expects to be and then to have to deal with this."

"He cannot grip the ball. He could not raise his elbow, about above a 90-degree angle as he tried to release that ball," NFL on Prime Video sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung said as Burrow headed to the locker room. "He's obviously in pain. He hit the ground after he attempted that first throw."

"Getting off the plane last night, you saw Joe Burrow and the device on his hand," Michaels added later in the broadcast. "Everything seemed according to the Bengals fine. But here he was on the sideline in agony."
