Jim Harbaugh's Michigan football news conference postponed Tuesday

Another day, another canceled Jim Harbaugh news conference.

Harbaugh's weekly Michigan football session with reporters set for noon Tuesday — after Monday's postponement — was canceled just 50 minutes before he was set to speak.

"We apologize for the short notice but the University of Michigan is postponing today’s media availability with Coach Harbaugh and players," Michigan spokesman David Ablauf said in the announcement. "We will communicate once another day and time has been determined."

Harbaugh was expected to give an update on the Wolverines' COVID-19 situation. Michigan returned to practice Monday in limited capacity, a week after the program was shut down with at least 12 positive COVID-19 cases, according to Free Press sources.

He also would have faced contract questions, as a report Monday night indicated athletic director Warde Manuel and Harbaugh were discussing a contract extension. Harbaugh, who has one year remaining on his deal, would have a lower base salary than he currently has and a lower buyout figure, making it easier to fire him next year if needed, according to a Free Press source.

The team will continue to participate in limited workouts Tuesday.
